Unsafe speed led to fatal ATV crash, police say

State police say that unsafe speed and driver inexperience was the probable cause of an all-terrain vehicle crash that killed a Levittown boy near Binghamton.
Mark Sattler, 12, had been driving the ATV east on Gillette Road in Sanford about 1:20 p.m. Friday when he lost control of it and went off the road, police said. His brother, Jonathan Sattler, 24, was also on the vehicle, seated behind Mark Sattler, when the accident occurred.
Police said the ATV hit a dirt embankment and then several trees. Jonathan Sattler was ejected from the ATV when it struck the embankment. Mark Sattler was thrown off when it hit the trees, police said.
Mark Sattler was taken to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City, where he died later that day. Police said he suffered massive trauma. His brother was also taken to Wilson Medical Center, where he was treated for a cut to his arm, police said.
Both were wearing helmets, the police said.
ALTHOUGH they were driving fast they are boys and I feel horrible for the family!
