I have an aunt who is an alchoholic. She has been having some major dental work done and she thinks just because the dentist told her to 'premedicate herself' she thinks that means having a few drinks along with her pain meds to medicate herself! I did not think she was this idiotic. I even told her alcohol would decrease the effects of the pain med she is taking and her response is 'oh no not me' I'm like oh I forgot you are special. It just really friggin bothers me how far gone she is now... makes me so mad.

This is an addict your dealing with. Not a rational thinking person. Sorry you have to deal with this, but until she gets help, this is how she operates. Hopefully she will hit bottom soon and realize it.

i agree - maybe this will be the thing that pushes her to the edge and she realizes that she needs help

Sad to say... she's been this way for years She is 50 years old now...very set in her ways and VERY thick headed...
