I saw these 'Dutch Wedding Shoes' on e-bay. The seller said they were a great conversation piece. Here is how that would go:

Hey, what is with the ugly wooden shoes?

They are dutch wedding shoes?

Oh. Why do you have them?

Just so that I can have this conversation. Over and over.

OMG, these are the first pair of shoes I've seen that are uglier than the ones I'm wearing to my wedding!! (Well, I don't think my shoes are ugly, everyone else does )

they really aren't attractive - i do have to confess - i bought a miniature pair of dutch wedding shoes when i was in holland to hang on the wall of my apartment!! they were hand made in front of me during the demonstration so i couldnt resist
