people usually bring little gifts to put in it....it can be themed also, like 'kitchen things'...or...everyone bring something beginning with a different letter of the alphabet, etc....for fun

a wishing well is for like little odds and ends.. like some people will purchase a bottle opener, or a turkey baster... little things you may need around the kitchen or house.
some people use an actual cardboard well and some people just use a clever design or pretty basket.
for baby showers people will usually throw in binky's or baby socks... you get the idea

i would think it means just bring some sorta cute odds and end.....i think it could be anything really.

Usually it means they literally have a 'wishing well' a little well made out of cardboard and what not, and everyone puts little wrapped gifts into the well - like sponges, kitchen utensils, small things. Spatulas, etc.
