A particular designer's dresses are featured. Often, either the designer or a representative is there. Also, there are samples more of the designer's dresses than the store may normally carry. If you order one of that designer's gowns, you generally receive a discount of 10-15%.
When I ordered my gown (a Matthew Christopher), Matthew was there and agreed to modify the dress for me from strapless to a tank with a v-neck.

I always picture a HUGE car parked in a parking lot with its trunk open and dresses hanging from it and on racks surrounding the car... don't ask why, thats just what I picture in my head.

that's awesome!
But yeah what previous post said - you can get the designer's dress for 10% off. I actually just went to a San Patrick trunk show and I tried on this Pronovias which I liked (which is the same company) and the girl actually brought it down further than 10%.

I also got my dress at a trunk show it was a Lazaro gown but he was not present...the good thing is that I got 15% off which is nice. For some reason the same store and Designer did not offer discounts on BM dresses which annoyed me a little

Oh dang it. I was hoping Trunk Shows would be a bigger discount than that.
