But how do you take pictures of your e-rings? Every one i take is blurry. Do you have to put it on a particular setting?

Granted my little exilim 3.2 mega pixels camera isn't a great camera for detail... but i need help!!! Any ideas?

The person with the best and clearest pic that I have seen, lcherian, said that she set her camera to 'macroflash' setting. Here's the ering pic thread...

To avoid a blurry picture you need to use macroflash on your camera. I'ts a little flower icon.

I have a 5 megapixel Canon and the only setting that worked for me was putting it on Digital Macro

Yeah my old camera didn't have that setting either...it was a crappy HP 2 megapixel camera.

You can see the difference in the pictures, too.

1st one was taken with the old 2 MP

2nd was taken with the new 5 MP

I took a pic of my hand far away and then cropped to see the ring. Mine came out good. It's on my avatar...

I would really love to help ya if I can. If you DO NOT have a macro (close-up) mode, you can still take great pics with your 3MP + cam. If you send me a forum mail with your exact camera style # I will look up the technical details for you online and tell you which auto or manual focus and which settings to use.

It really depends on the lighting, how far away you are, and the WHITE BALANCE and aperture that you use. If your camera is totally automatic without any manual overrides then it can be much more tricky. This website sort of helps but is still not the most user-friendly. See below:

Random Tips Site I Found For Photographing Jewelry

The best thing to do is to keep the camera still by putting it on a tripod or ledge, taking off your ring if you can handle it and using WAX to hold the ring up... using a reflective or white surface and lighting from underneath and behind the jewelry. Note that not all of the photo will be in focus if you are less than 2 feet away because of depth of field, as in the pic I took below of my diamond before setting. I used a candlestick to bounce light off and multiple plant lights for the rainbow effect. FM me for more info & good luck!
