just wondering!

Wow - I didn't even know that they don't. Most of my vendors accept cash or credit.

none of mine accept CC AT ALL! very annoying
but I think it's because the CC company charges the vendor 3% for every transaction over $500- that can really add up considering how hefty a final payment can be

Mine also! We were tight on $$$ so even though we hadn't used our CC's at all for the wedding I tried to leave 2 of the final payments on one and they gave us a really hard time!! Usually its even in your contract! We wound up having to come up with the cash.

I am pretty sure it is b/c you can dispute a credit card charge after it is posted to your card and they are afraid you may do it and stiff them. Since they have already spent their time providing you the service they would be out time and money.

Many vendors want cash as final payments because -they are afraid the checks will bounce (and their services will have already been done) -they don't want to report all their income to the IRS. Cash = under the table.

I think it's just because you can stop payment on a credit card. If they have the cash, it's harder for you to get anything back due to disputes.

We REALLY wanted to charge a lot too because we want the cruise points for our honeymoon.

Re: this may be a stupid question but....
i think they dont accept credit cards because of the 3% they get charged. when we booked our reception we put the $500 deposit on a cc and he said that was fine, but in the future they need cash or check because they get charged that 3% which is a lot when you are dealing with thousands of dollars. final payment must be cash though. ~lacey
