This may sound really stupid

but how did everyone here determine their wedding date?

Did you go to reception halls first and see what was available? I am so clueless about this....

first you decide what day you want to get married on. then you c what the hall has available

I picked what worked best for us (me in particular). I don't finish up my masters until the end of July and I'm hoping to have a teaching job for Sept. so I picked mid August that way I would be back from the HM in time to teach and enough time to get things ready after I graduate.

I went and picked the place first. Then I picked the date.

Well, I am a teacher and didn't want to have to take time off from work or try to do it around the school breaks, so we thought, ok, summer. Then I looked at the calendar and saw that July 3 was on a Sunday so we could essentially have a Saturday night wedding with Sunday prices. And voila, there ya have it, our wedding date!

for me, I wanted to do it on Sunday.. being jewish Saturday weddings in the summer start really late. And, I wanted people to have the next day off, so they can easily stay and celebrate.
That is why we are getting married on sunday memorial day weekend.

I really wanted Fall....and I wanted a Sunday Holiday weekend. So when Labor Day was booked everywhere, I looked to Columbus Day and then we decided 10/9/05. We knew we needed atleast one year to save....and it turned out that we would have an almost two year Engagement, but thats alright. It certainly is working out!

We knew we wanted a fall wedding and a Saturday night. The place we chose had one Saturday night left in October, so we took it!

we went looking at reception halls first. then picked the date by what that hall had available in our price range. October was sort of not the most expensive, but not the least expensive either.
(Oh yeah, and Saturday night was a MUST!!)

we had a choice of september 10th or the 17th (we wanted september or october) so we flipped a coin for the date

For us, we knew we wanted a xmas themed type of wedding but we didn't want too close to xmas and depending on which is more important, we chose to go to our Church first to make sure they were available before checking out the reception sites.

As a teacher, I had to have July or August. The place I wanted only had one date left during that time. So that is how I picked my date!

Well, we knew we wanted to get married in the summer because my FH is a teacher and we didn't want to have to delay our honeymoon and we also knew we wanted it to be in early July. When we finally found our hall, we just reviewed what dates they had available and picked one.

I did both...I originally picked labor day weekend...even got my bag monogrammed with that date

Then I went to hall after hall with mom (disaster) and found that most places were already booked for sunday night....

When I went to the MPI they had a saturday night available at the sunday price so I went ahead and booked it.

I'm a teacher too, so we knew we had to get married in the summer. The 23rd of July is actually 19 months to the date after we got engaged. It was a coincidence that the 23rd of July was a Saturday.

My birthday is March 17, FH and I starting dating on April 17. We wanted to get married on a Friday night in June so since 17 seems to be a good number for us we picked June 17th

We knew the time of year we wanted to get married, and then started looking at halls to see what was available
