Anyone affected by what happened this morning? Apparently some of the LIRR lines were suspended due to a police investigation. One of my co-workers said someone drove through the tracks near Bayside???

Hi! When I got to Penn I heard something about the Port Washington line having delays. Luckily mine does not go through bayside. Sheesh, someone drove through the tracks. I hope everything is ok.
mv1003 takes that line, I wonder if she suffered any delays.
A few co-workers of mine just showed up at work around 10 am...saying something about someone driving onto the tracks...

This was right behind my building! I saw all the fire engines and emergency vehicles but didn't know what happened until I got to the train station.
I ended up taking an express bus so it wasn't too bad for me. I was only 40 minutes late.

YES, I was affected I had to go to Main St and take the 7 Train.
ETA: Thanks for the link to the story. I was trying to figure out how a car would end up on the tracks since the LIRR tracks by Bayside are not street level, but elevated. I hope the person(s) in the car are okay.

My train wasn't delayed (7:22 Ronkonkoma express) but I, too, heard about the suspended Pt. Washington service when we got into Penn.

I was affected . I did what Marcela did and took the bus to Main st. and got the 7 train to Times Square and then got the 1 train downtown. I finally got to work at 9:45....was not fun!

I take the Port washington Line. I was planning on taking the 8:37 at Broadway Station. I had to get back on tthe bus and go to Main Street and take the 7. I didn't get to work until after 10.
I hope everything is back to normal tonight.

Charliesgirl: do you take the 8:37 train every morning? I take that train from Bayside at 8:32am.
FH went to work late today, b/c the contractor began working on our house. He had to drive to Astoria and park the car there and then take the N train to work
I know today's incident wasn't LIRR's fault. But the Port Washington line has been delayed in the evening pretty much everyday for the past few weeks I ask myself everyday, why are we paying so much $$ for a train that doesn't even leave on time

That's what I keep saying to myself!!
Plus those new trains with less seats and less places to stand!!
And to add insult to injury, they lost my mail and ride payment last month so I had to pay TWICE!! How can they lose an envelope I put in that slot at Penn Station??? I use transit checks so it's not like I can stop payment on them either.

Marcela - I am usually on the 8:07 but occassionally I take the 8:37 when I am running late.
What train do you take homa at night? I'm on the 5:56 out of Penn.

UGH!! I HATE those new trains! Fh loves them. There is no room on the new trains and you're practically sitting on each other.
I cannot believe they lost your envelope. I don't get transit check. I decided to use a credit card for that very reason. I cannot trust them to get a check and process it on time.

I hate the new trains too...the bathrooms are too big...i hate sitting near them but they practically take up a whole side of the train. Makes it hard to get away from them. I also get sea sick on them..they sway so much from side to side....they must be made higher than the old ones.

I am like juliet. My train was maybe 3 minutes late (lately that is a very rare thing). I take the 7:15 out of Lindenhurst. But I did hear about the Port Washington line being down when I got to Penn station! Anyone else HATE LIRR?
ETA: Okay everyone was telling me I was nuts with teh new trains I always feel like i am on top of the person next to me! I am happy to know its not just me!

I take the Hempstead line into work. We were running maybe 5 minutes late.
I take the train to Mineola home.. (I think that's the port jeff line) and I hope it runs smoothly. I've got a late night ahead of me.
