Okay I have had this little thing on my neck that actually hangs off. It looks like just an extra piece of skin and i have seen it on other people before. It has never bothered me or anyone can hardly see it, but now that I am getting married and will have an updo probably should i make an appt to get it off....I would figure I would go to a dematologist...anyone know or have one of these taken off???

It's a skin tag! The derma. can cut that off. I have had tiny ones before, and cut them off myself, but I would go to the dr. for a larger one.

My cowroker has them removed about once a year - it's tender for a day or two but there's no mark.

Dh and his sister get those, mostly in the summer, his sister cuts them off herself I believe theirs are hereditary.

I would think it would too, but I THINK it depends on how close to the neck you cut it! I could be wrong on that though!

Good luck! Mine were never large--I get them where my bra rubs for some reason, so it wasn't in as obvious as place. I cut them off with nail scissors...I guess it hurt, didn't bleed much, but it was only attached by a tiny piece of skin. (this is getting to be gory and a bit TMI!) I think the derma. just cuts it off...He might freeze it first to stop the pain--I had one thing on my face they thought might be a cancerous spot and he froze it, then removed it.
FH is getting one removed next Wed. from his neck where his collar rubs. Insurance doesnt pay for it because it is considered cosmetic. Its $85 and they burn it off.

Re: This Thingy on my Neck
You could also tie a piece of string around it, and then the blood supply stops to it and it falls off. My fiance gets them around his neck area and that is what the doctor told us to do.
