This week's Fortune magazine - housing bubble is going to burst!
I would recommend anyone looking to buy a home to pick up this month's issue of Fortune. There's a very long article in there about the housing prices in over-inflated areas (long island being the among the worst) and how its very likely they will drop soon. Its a very interesting (and enlightening) article.

Can you post a link. I personally don't think it will drop, I think it will stabilize.

i think the same thing and i really hope LI will stabalize and not drop. time will tell.

I agree. I've noticed that they seem to be stabalizing. But I hope they drop within the next few months!

Even if they drop a little, it will go back up. I guess time will tell.
I personally am hoping for modest increases. I don't expect for value to increase as it has been.

And JMO I dont see the housign on LI going down too much if at all! There are just too many willing buyers and too few homes! As much as we all complain about the prices, a lot of us are paying them. So why would the prices go down? I think LI is a very unique housing market due to its location, size and what it offers residents!

They were saying the bubble would burst 6 months ago. Then the rates dropped again.
Me personally... I dont see the prices coming down. Demand for housing is still there and as long as there is demand... owners can still dictate the pricing.

The unfortunate reality if the even if prices to stabilize or drop slightly, the taxe are still increasing an an incredible rate. I just read not too long ago in 'Suffolk Life' that there is a proposal to reaise suffolk taxes in the same fashion that Nassau raised 3 years ago

i have a feeling that the higher priced (600k and >) homes will begin to level or drop, but not the entry level homes (500k and <)
