This will probably sound stupid.. cribs

I haven't even looked at cribs or been in a baby store yet. We don't have many down here and the small stores that we do have have alot of destruction from the last hurricane. So basically I have only been looking online and here is my stupid question.

Aren't babies able to climb out of the newer style cribs? I know that I was in what I think is called a Jenny Lind style which seems a ton higher, when I was in my nursery and I used to be able to maneuver my way out of it as I got older.

Maybe the sides are lower in the pictures I am looking at online so please forgive me if I sound dumb. We are making both our parents first time grandparents next year and we are new down here so we are one of the first of our friends to start making babies so none of us have any experience with this new style.

This is the only baby store I have down here www.storkland.net and it isn't fully opened yet, I can't wait till it is.

I went crib shopping for the first time so I am still learning myself but most cribs have mattresses that that can be lowered so as the baby gets bigger you can lower the mattress.

Remember there are usually 2 mattress settings, one that is higher for when you have an infant. And then one that goes lower for when they are standing. (it looks like some of the pictures on this site are set at the higher level)

Each baby is different though, because my niece was 18 months when tehy took her out of her crib (new baby was coming) but she never once tired to climb out. My other nephew was trying to get out about about 15 months made it at about 16 months. I know other babies who were in their crib until 2 years and never tried to get out!

Have fun shopping

Thanks Ladies,

That makes ALOT of sense! I'm also the baby of my family. So pretty much the last time I saw a crib in person was as I was escaping from it.. lol
