Those doing a Tahiti honeymoon?

Hi ladies! FI and I are really considering doing a Tahitian honeymoon. I've actually never been out of the country (how sad, right? I have a slight plane phobia. I don't even have a passport ) so I think it would be a great, once in a lifetime kind of trip.

However, it seems to carry the price of a once in a lifetime trip as well. I was hoping you wouldn't mind sharing what travel agent (if any) you used, how many days you're going, where you are staying, and the price. FM would be great as well if you don't want to post.

We were quoted about $11,000 for 10 nights--5 at the Black Pearl Resort in Bora Bora, 5 at the Black Pearl in Moorea including air transfers and roundtrip flight. Just want to find out if there are any discounts to be had. Thanks so much!!

Re: Those doing a Tahiti honeymoon?

We just booked our honeymoon to Bora Bora..
However, I found that travel agents added on many hidden costs...
So, we booked everything ourselves through expedia, air tahiti, ect.
I came out to be about $1500 - $2000 cheaper than booking with an agent...
It takes a little work working out the timeing of flights ect.. but if saving the $$ is important, it is worth it..

Re: Those doing a Tahiti honeymoon?

We are going through Creative Travel in Melville off 110. We did alot of research online and got some prices some from online agents. It's working out to be about the same price through Creative Travel. If you are definately up to doing it all yourself getting all the inter-island flights it might be worth it to d your own research however we are not that organized! It also depends on what time of year your are going. Summer is more expensive that winter (like over $1000 more )
Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

I did not check out Tahiti (I did check out Turtle Island) but a colleague planned her honeymoon in Tahiti.

From what I recall, it was to be 14 days at 2 or 3 different resorts and the price tag was about $14K. I know that at least one resort was in Bora Bora.

Unfortunately, because of 9/11, they never went so I can't tell you anything about the resorts. They did go through with the wedding though - 9/15/01. They picked that date since about 4 generations of her family were married on 9/15 so waiting another year was out of the question.

ETA: No passport?!?!? It can take a few months to get one. However, if you have plane tickets in hand for a date about 14 days out they can expedite your passport.
