Those doing/did CD favors, please help!!!

How did you know what types of CD's to burn onto so that most guests would be able to listen to them. I tried making a sample CD last week on a Memorex CD-RW 700MB, 80 minute, 4x speed. It did not play in my CD player or my car CD (I own a 2003 car!!!) I don't know if maybe I did it wrong or it's the type of CD I bought, I'm a t a loss. The weird thing is, it plays in my computer, just fine.
Is there a certain type of CD that works better to burn onto? I would love to do these as favors and have received them before and been able to play them, I'm thinking I either bought the wrong CDS or I burned them wrong, although I just got a new Dell that came with the software and it was VERY easy to follow I'm really confused. thought CDs would solve my favor problem and love the idea but now I'm not sure...

So far I have bought a lot of the 'cheaper' cd's and not had a problem playing them in car or on Stereo...I recently bought Memorex 700mb 80 minute cd's and they were fine on all systems?
I would try a sony one too, they seem to be very compatible, reasonably priced and work well....and try Staples for Cd's...they have a section with all the stuff for making your own ( geared towards parties/weddings) I think those would be guarenteed to work on all systems...

P.s We are doing CD favors too, havent decided on which ones to use yet...we are looking for blank ones, vs. say the memorex ones which have a label on them ( which are ugly) and would have to paste a label we made over it...

ETA: I have a Dell too, so I dont think you neccesarially did it wrong...did it completly finish and then did it ask you ( some type of prompt) to 'complete' oir 'finalize' CD??? One time I forgot to finalize and it didnt play ( but it should not play on PC either then..sounds like the Cd you bought)

i got my done by someone on ebay. The price was great fro what I wanted. They came out to 1.43 a cd.

With the slimline case, the insert in the front(any picyture you want) and a design on the cd(any thing u want). I thought the price was great and no work for me was even better.

Good luck ladies

I had cd favors, but I can't remember which ones we used. But from what I understand some CD players will not play burned cds no matter what, the player is just not formatted to do so. I thought this was only w/ older cd players, which is why its odd that your cd wouldn't play in your car. Only one guest from my wedding told me she had an issue w/ playing my cd, but she useded it as an excuse to get her DH to get a new stereo, LOL.

It really depends on the program that you are usisng to burn your cd. I burned my friends CDs and they work in everyone's CD, but, ours from 2 years ago didn't. Many sony products don't allow burned CDs to work in their systems!

Make sure when your done burning the CD's you finalize them. Alot of stereos won't play the Cd if they are not finalized. I did these favors for my engagment party and they were such a hit!
