So FH and I, mostly I, decided not to invite anyone under 18 to the wedding because FH has way too many kids in his family who are cousins, nieces, and nephews. On New Years Eve, FH's cousin was up from Florida. She is 15 years old and said not once, but twice, that she would be back for our wedding and how excited she was. FH and I didn't say anything, but of course we felt horrible. I hate this!

Re: Those not inviting kids
We had the same issue and its the reason we are doing 14 and older. FH's oldest nephew is his jr groomsman and all of the kids in both of our familes are all younger than 14 so that's why we did 14. We are getting flack for not inviting kids but I don't 32 kids under 13 running around. Its your wedding and she will be dissapointed but she has to understand you are only have an adult reception.

Re: Those not inviting kids
Well, you're gonna have to stick to your guns because people will be offended if some kids are allowed and not others. My FBIL said 'no kids' and we had a crisis an hour before the wedding when the babysitter flaked on our niece; finally we got a babysitter but I was like, honestly, this is an emergency and if we have to bring her, so be it. My SIL was freaking out if she had to do that. Come to find out at the wedding FBIL's wife allowed everyone on her side to bring kids.
She majorly effed up in my book.
Unfortunately for her she's gonna have to abide by the decision you guys make and deal with it

Re: Those not inviting kids
We have the same exact problem...FH has A LOT of 2nd cousins that are little and it would just be like a play ground which is definitely not what we want it to be. So, we decided to not invite either 10 or 12 and under. I feel like above 12 years old they are not really kids anymore, at least not to the point where they won't know how to behave themselves.

Re: Those not inviting kids
we are only having bridal party only. The only exception is my sister in law will be having a baby the last week of June and my wedding is July 17. The baby will probably have to make an appearence.

Re: Those not inviting kids
We invited the kids that are our first cousins and SIL's two children (who were in our wedding party) but that's it. I didn't invite any of my dad's cousin's children, or it would've looked like a bar mitzvah instead of a wedding.
15 isn't really a child, though -- if this is someone you and your FH are close to, could you just invite her?
The youngest people are our wedding were 16 and several 19 y/os. I feel like once you're in H.S. you're not really a kid anymore. But you'll have to do what works best for you and your budget.

I'd invite her. Maybe you'd consider doing 16 and older and make her the one exception.
