Those of u who booked with make-up artist from stores....

I went for a makeup trial yesterday and LOVED LOVED LOVED the way it came out. I immediately asked her to do the wedding and she agreed and gave me a great price.

Now, It was with my co-worker's mom who works for a makeup counter at a local mall. She said she would do the wedding and come to the hotel for me where I am getting ready. She even offered to have me come back today and have it all redone as we are going out for my birthday tonight. (it was last month but we had to cancel dinner b/c of the snow storm) I ended up taking her up on this offer b/c i loved it so mich and wanted FH to see it.

She did my makeup at no charge and I ended up buying some products (which she didn't make me feel obligated to buy, but ended up saving $ in the long run. Plus the products were awesome) She even said I can go back several times in the next few months.

Now my question is, do i make a contract with her? How do I bring this up without insulting her? I don't think there will be a problem but I don't want to have to scramble close to the wedding. Advice please!

I told her the date and she said she could take the day off b/c its a Thursday, and she can do all the girls as well. Should I do it??

I didn;t book with a m/u artist from a store but no matter who it is, you should ALWAYS have a written contract with every wedding vendor. It is your only legal protection in case, God forbid, should anything go wrong. I have read a few unfortunate incidences on this board where brides didn't get one because they knew the vendor and assumed everything would be OK and it wasn't. Please get a contract....just call her and ask her to send out the contracts and you will send her a deposit to hold the day. No need to feel badly about it at all...all pro makeup artists use contracts and all of them ask for deposits to book the date. Think of it as an investment in your day and your pictures...you want to protect it right?
