Does it make you mad when you see dogs that are supposedly purebreeds but they look more like a science experiment gone horribly wrong? I'm looking through the so-called purebreed Boxers on Dogster.com and there are a TON of Boxers that look NOTHING like what a true Boxer should look like.
For example, W T F is this????? This dog is only 5 years old but looks like it's about to kick the bucket!
And this?!!! OMG......why the F did this person crop this dog's ears???? It's obviously not a show dog!!!! (although the owner claims she is??? is she joking???)
Uggggghhhhhh.... !
TONS of the Boxers posted on Dogster have screwed up ears like this one does. Obviously the owner didn't know how to make the ears sit properly, which means that their 'breeder' stinks. And granted, being a purebreed does not mean that you're going to get a show-quality dog, but the dog should at least RESEMBLE it's breed.
I'm not trying to criticize these dogs; it's just that it makes me soooo furious that people are having the wool pulled over their eyes by these backyard breeders.... DH and I are so lucky to have hooked up with a caring and responsible breeder.

Re: Those of you that have purebreeds.....
yeah i know!!! its how some people proabbly think when they see my Tink. her 'breeder' was horrible.
I get that with Murphy a lot because no one has a broken coated Jack Russell so they assume he is a mutt. He also has long legs for a JRT but ummmm he wouldn't have gotten a ribbon in conformation if he wasn't the way a JRT is 'supposed' to be.

How do you do a search by breed?

Re: Those of you that have purebreeds.....
I know, so many breeders try to rip people off. I was just at a pet store because I wanted to 'investigate' their ads and had to see a few things for myself. Their advertised dachshunds were not purebreeds at all. They had long legs--who ever heard of a long legged dachhund!! While it bothers me that people are so ripped off, the dogs in the pictures that you showed look ok to me and I'm sure that someone loves them very much. As for the dog that looks old, maybe it has been through too much, or maybe it lives in a different climate than we do. I do not know much about breeds that need things done to the ears, but I think it's ok leave the dog the way it was born. For example, ever since I was a little kid, I didn't like dogs with their tails cropped. So we had a German Shorthaired Pointer and we never got the tail cropped. So he would not win a show but I loved him.

Oh, I know......they probably don't even care that their dogs aren't what they should be, and love them just the way they are. But if you pay for a purebreed, you should get a dog that looks like it's supposed to! Otherwise, ADOPT!!!
This is what a Boxer SHOULD look like:
See the difference in the head? The ears?

aww, I understand what you are saying.
Those dogs are still cute in my book. Even if they have strayed far from the breed's standard.
