those on the pill...

those on the pill...

i want to have honeymoon babies and going to precana scared the shyt out of me that im going to get cancer......

anyway....

i went to my gyno the other day and asked them when i should go off the pill to get pregnant.....they said the absolute longest it takes to get ur cycle back on schedule is 3 months......so im not going off the pill until may since my honeymoon is in august

also it is not proven that the pill and breast cancer have anything to do with eachother....u have just as much chance of getting it on the pill as u do off the pill

Re: those on the pill...

thanks for the info. I never heard that the pill was linked to breast cancer and am glad it isnt!

My doctor told me the same thing about 3 months however she reiterated that it does not mean that in 3 months you will get pregnant. I have a friend that got preg one month after getting off the pill and i have one that took over a year to get preg. So there is no rhyme or reason. I plan on staying on the pill at least past the wedding so that I know i will NOT have my period at the wedding...plus i dont want babies that soon lol

I have not gone to pre-cana yet, but I strongly believe that the church's views on birth control are pre-historic and asinine.

If birth control caused cancer then there would be wayyyyyyyyyyy more women with breast cancer than there already are. Fact is if you are going to get cancer you are going to get it.

I am totally team Catholic, but there views on this are wrong, unhealthy and out of date.

I agree a million times over... Im catholic as well but for them to be talking to you about your birth control is a little out of line. and BTW they are not doctors!!!! Listen to your obgyn

Just a little fyi - the gyno says the most it takes is 4 months to get your cycle back but it could happen much faster than that.

My friend Lisa was on the pill for 10 years, she went off in July hoping to get pregnant around Christmas time and she skipped her period THAT month.

I'm sure that's a rare case but it does happen.

what the church told you that? seriously now. I think that's unfair and promotes their own agenda. grrr.

I'm totally team Catholic as well and very religious. I'm actually surprised they even brought that up. Hmm I wonder if it will come up in my precana

I just did PreCana and the church we were at was totally cool on the topic. We didn't talk about BC or any of that. We didn't even talk about premartial sex...we only discussed sexuality...I think that depending on your church/priest/deacon, the views differ a bit.

I can't believe they even talked about that! I would have been scared too lol

FBIL and FSIL did it at the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston and there was a whole section devoted to different methods of 'church approved' birth control. Which from my understanding is some form of the rhythm method.

havent done precana yet but in our interview the priest lectured us about cancer and the pill as well as differend positions... it was weird and yucky... we are not getting married in that church anymore:)

agreed- I am fairly Catholic, but I'd like to control my body (plus, the pill allows my hormones to act similarly every month, allowing me to be a better diabetic as my insulin needs change like whoa!). Haven't done Pre-Cana yet, but they can take that view and shove it where the sun don't shine :)

I must say I'm so glad I don't have to do this...lol
I have been on the pill since my son was born and did tons of research before deciding which one. My doc said there is no link to breast cancer.

As for babies, it varies by individual. Good luck trying...that's the fun part.

Re: those on the pill...

sounds like your pre-cana priest was preaching a little falsisms to further HIS beliefs.... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that's why we aren't getting married in the Catholic Church.

Re: those on the pill...

oh and i've read articles that actually link bc to a lowered rate of ovarian cancer.
