Those who gave their photographers must take lists...
Did you write down everything you wanted? (Even ones that seemed obvious?) How long were your lists? Extremely detailed? Pls help!!! I'm being told that my long list is unnecessary...

Re: Those who gave their photographers must take lists...
I made a list that was about half a page. My photographer told me that one bride gave him a 5 page list, and he told her to make it shorter. Some of my pictures were obvious, but I wanted to make sure we got them.

Re: Those who gave their photographers must take lists...
I just hired my photog after long interviews and this subject was discussed in detail. Good wedding photogs (with experience and who do quality work) say pretty much the same thing. Long long lists of things like, first kiss, first dance, really are not necessary or helpful. If they are of any quality, they will know this. What they really need from us, particularly since this is what people are most dissappointed about after the fact, is PARTICULAR PEOPLE and combinations of people that you want shots of. If Great Aunt Sally and Cousin Bob are two people that you want in a shot with B+G then this is what they need to know. Be detailed with this, but stuff like bride's dress should be something that they know to take. I would add to that that is there is some special detail you care about -- like I will probably be incorporating lace from my grandmother's dress into my bouquet, then tell them because again they are not going to know that kind of detail without you.

I am actually giving them printouts of sample pics I want taken. This way, there is no confusion.
BTW..most of the photos I want I stole from the brides here...LOL!

Re: Those who gave their photographers must take lists...
This is what I gave to my photographer at our final meeting.
Directions to my parents house Ceremony time line (and who was involved) List of must take photos (different combos of people only) Details that I wanted photographed.
When I gave him the list of 'must takes' I knew that some were obvious, but I stated that I wanted him to glance over it and make sure that I wasn't assuming that certain pictures would be taken. Well, he wasn't planning on taking picture of the extended families (very important to us since so many people are coming from so far). He added that into the itinerary. There were a couple other combinations that he added.

Re: Those who gave their photographers must take lists...
Our photographer gave US a list of what they normally take & specifically said they do not take extended family shots, table shots& close ups of rings& invitaitons, unless asked in advanced.
So I will just mention those things, once I decide if I want them.
Also, this is weird, but I was in a wedding where they only took pictures of the MOH & flower girls coming down the aisle, not the rest of the BP,so you may want to ask about that if it is important to you.

I wrote down EVERY shot I wanted, including the obvious ones AND showed them examples and still had shots they didn't get or got them wrong!
