We just switched to Benit
I think we pay 1.29 per gallon but I have to once again, ask DH

ETA: we had meenan and I did not like them at all, very pushy on lots of things, especially their security system - so far so good w/ Benit

we use perillo. we have a cap of $1.39 / gal and they have been good so far. most companies will waive the first years of service and make sure to get a company that gives you a cap.. esp in this economy and all the news on oil recently.

also, when you are ready to renew your contract, they will ask you to pay a service fee. if you say that you are going to switch companies to take advantage of the 'fee waiver' chances are they will waive the contract fee for you to keep you as a customer.

We are using Petro. We were going to switch, but then they gave us the capped price we wanted. I guess they didn't want to lose our business. There service is excellent too. If you like I'll FM you the price.

What do you mean by cap?

cap- they have to put the per gallon price in your contract or they can raise you....

It means you get a set price per gallon. The oil co can not raise the price if the cost of oil raises.

I didn't know about capped prices for oil until we owned our home. It's a learning experience. I just learned all about oil burners because we had to buy a new one. That was an eye opener!

WE use Petro. Yes,. very happy with them. You get a full coverage contract with them and thank god, because since we moved in, we have had nothing but trouble with our burner. Nearly 3 different parts have had to be replaced. It is all covered and we pay by a month balance. We got locked in at 1.34 $ a gallon. My uncle works for them too, so that is another good reason why we went with them.

I went with Benit. I also pay $1.29 per gallon. However this morning I had an emergency and I called at 6:30 a.m. and they didn't come until 10am. Based on this I would say that in addition to price, service (and response time) is very important too.

Hi Marcella. We have Petro and are capped at $1.29 per gallon till May, 2004. We are happy with them and have a free service contract.

Yet another VERY satisfied Petro customer here....we have had our burner serviced 4 times since moving in, and each time, they have improved the efficiency and quietness of our burner and heating system. Unfortunately, the previous owners had really 'let things go' so broken parts hadn't been replaced in a long while.

We are very pleased with their prompt response and workers are very friendly and professional. We locked in our rate during the summer, so we got a really great price - $1.20 or something like that.

I used to work for Anchor Fuel in Massapequa/Seaford they are great and a family business. They work from their home so you can always reach someone. They are great for refills if you want cheaper refills sometime. When I worked for them many people did this. They would have expensive contracts with other companies that they were locked into but would use anchor to fill them up every now and then.
My old neighborhood uses Trager Fuel in Wantagh they are also very good. I believe the owners name is Bobby and he was very good to my mom. They were awesome about servicing the boiler very quick if it needed it!

Also, never be afraid to call around for fuel prices. I used to answer calls like that daily at anchor and also the price varies for how many gallons you are receiving.
