Did it wind up saving you a lot of money? Did you print them on your home computer/printer?
I'm debating it after I did the accomodation cards for my save-the-date and really enjoyed it!

Re: Those who made their own invites....
Yes, we saved A LOT (probably saved over $800) by making them ourselves. We did pocketfolds and printed on the cards ourselves from our printer at home, then glued them to the pocketfold. We're done I just have to take pics and post them... hopefully soon.

Re: Those who made their own invites....
We wanted the scroll invites that you put in a mailing tube. I priced them at www.beyondtheinvite.com and they were 1800.00 for 100. I almost died. I found a scroll company that had the kit to do it yourself. It cost us about 400.00. When I figure out how to post a picture on here, I' ll put it on. They came out beautiful.

Re: Those who made their own invites....
I was looking into doing this for my invites but, since I am planning on just doing simple ones, it's not that much more money to order them from a place like Party City.

I am still working on mine and have had enough! It was fun int he beginning, but it feels like its never going to end. I am also making pocketfold.
It has cost: $75 - invites, envelopes, responce cards & envelopes.
$60 - Vellum
$40 - Cardstock
$20 - Ribbon
$40 - Adhesive
TOTAL- $235.00
It cost me $1.75 for each invite. When I break it down like this, I can say..yeah...we saved money.

Re: Those who made their own invites....
I bought my invites at a discount store - 3 boxes of 50 each...$5.99 a box. That included invite, response card & the coordinating envelopes. I then purchased vellum at Staples - 3 packs of 50 each...about $9.99 each. Then I bought ribbon which cost less then $10 dollars. So all together I spent about $60 on the supplies. My mom printed the invites, response cards & response envelopes at work - we had trouble doing this on their home computer and then we printed the invite envelopes at home. We printed 150 invite sets, but only used 100 or so. So we have a ton of extras. It was all a bit of a pain in the butt...but worth it.
The only invites I loved in the stores were over $400 and that was for like 50 invites or something crazy!

Re: Those who made their own invites....
Don't forget that if you buy your invites from AC Moore or Michael's, they ALWAYS have those 40 - 50% off coupons. The Sunday paper usually has the Michael's ones and I got a bunch of 50% off for AC Moore on wow-coupons.com. They usually won't let you use more than one at a time, so just leave the store and walk back in and use them. I saved lots of $$$ this way :)
