Are you having/did you have your FG and RB at the reception also and what are the ages. I'm fine with having the 4 and 9 year old at the reception, but I'm wondering how the 1.5 year old will be, or if I should put my foot down on this. Anyone have experience with this? No other children will be invited.

My FG and RB will be attending the reception. However, I am having 2 of each. And the youngest, a RB will be picked up sometime during the reception. He is my nephew and my MOH (sister) said she wants to enjoy herself and can't if she has to watch him all day/night

Re: Those with FG/RB
Mine are 3 and 5 but the 5 year old will have another girl to play with who is also 5. I am worried about the 3 yr old getting tired and acting up. They tend to be wild kids. Unfortunately, they are also from OTT so I feel weird asking the mom to find a sitter.

All 3 are FH nieces and nephew. I thought the same thing about his sister and husband having to watch the baby and not really enjoying themselves, plus where is the baby going to sit in a stroller, won't that be in the way? And I also remember awhile back her saying that they'd be leaving early so they could put the kids to bed-WHAT!!!

Re: Those with FG/RB
we are having all our 'kids' (ie. neices and nephews) at the reception. The youngest is 4 and she's one of our Bell Ringers. I couldn't imagine her not being there :)
We'll be making fun stuff for all of them to play with and use at the kids table, so they don't get too bored. But I'm sure they'll be dancing the night away.

I had the same thoughts about my sisters and brothers. If their kids are there, then how will they have fun? So, we invited their In-Laws and they will be acting as 'babysitters' for the real youngins'. Then when the kids get too tired and want to leave, the In-Laws will take them back to the hotel so the parents don't have to be bothered with that at their baby sister's wedding :)
They LOVED the idea!
I know this isn't an option for everyone b/c they try to keep their guest list down. I needed to get my guest list up (so I could guarantee 90), so this worked for us.

The inlaws will be there, but I didn't think they were going to watch the kids-they didn't at the last wedding. Maybe I'm just stressing over something that I should leave alone, I guess I should take the attitude of if they have to leave early or don't enjoy themselves that is their problem. I guess I'm just picturing them stuck in the corner with the baby carriage (like our eparty).

My FG and RB will be 5 at the time of the wedding. I am also having a junior bridesmaid who will be 8.
Oh yeah - and yes they are all invited to the reception.

I think it's fine to have an adult-only reception, but I don't think it's ok to include children in the ceremony but not the reception. If you want them included, than I think they should be included all the way. Otherwise it seems kind of like you're 'using' them. JMHO

I had a 4 year old FG and her brother (6 months) at my wedding. The 4-year old was still dancing at 1:00 AM - she loved it!! It was so much fun to watch her enjoy the night and her dress it was priceless!
I didn't have a problem with children coming to my wedding, some people think it ruins it. I think the decision should be up to you and you FH - you should make your decision based on how you feel.

Re: Those with FG/RB
I am trying to convince my sister to hire a babysitter for my 5 yr old nephew for the night. I would pay for the babysitter's plate. My sister says he'll be fine without a babysitter. I am concerned that he will want to go into the bridal room and fall asleep and she will want to stay there with him!! He is my RB.

Mine are invited to the reception if the parents want to bring them. The youngest will be 2.5 and the oldest will be 5. Close children are invited to our wedding though...

If they are going to be in the ceremony, shouldn't they be at the recetpion? It's kind of rude to say they can't be in the reception.

Re: Those with FG/RB
I am having kids.. the youngest will be 4. I don't see how you can invite the other FG RB and not the little one..
Oh yeah... If FH's cousin comes she will bring her one year old. We went to a wedding last year...Her baby was like 3 weeks old and she brought him... Whatever.. IMO it's not worth the argument. The 1 1/2 year old will dance with the other kids and will be totally cute. At my grandparents anniversary party all the kids were there ( at the time the youngest was 2) and they danced the whole time and even got other people to dance becauset they were so cute.
