Thought I'd share...Suffolk STAR info.

One of my New Years resolutions is to keep bills and house paperwork up-to-date and organized. Wish me luck...I'll need it...

I'm in the process of filling out our STAR exemption application (due 3/1).

I thought it was due on 12/31/03?

How do you know if your assessor requires proof of age or residency???

Also, If the previous owners were STAR exempt am I automatically????

No, it's 3/1. I think 12/31 was for Nassau county.

Not sure about the age and residency stuff, but there's a FAQ section on the website. Maybe there's a clue there. Otherwise call the assessor's office.

If the previous owners received a STAR exemption it is not automatically transferred to you. As the new owner, you have to apply. The Town of Islip sent us a letter telling us this.
