Thoughts on Direct TV?

We're thinking of switching over to it. It's so much cheaper then cable and I really just hate cablevision. Please share your experiences with it-good or bad. Does anyone have problems with the channels going out? How often does it happen?

I love my Direct TV service. The picture is very clear and it is much cheaper than IO. In 6 months, it has gone out many 3 times and only in really heavy heavy downpours.

We have Direct Tv with Tivo and I love it!!! Our bill is only around 80 dollars a month. The only time we have ever had a problem was in very bad weather (severe t-storm or heavy snow storm)

i had direct TV at our old place....in the middle of hurricane isabel when comcast cable went out everywhere we never once lost TV!!

Agree with every one above.

It's alot cheaper. They have all the same channels (plus a couple). A cable rep came to my door the other day and I asked him if they had gotten a deal with TCM yet. The answer is no. So there's no way I'm going to cable.

The only time I lose signal is in a really heavy storm. We find other things to do during that time!

My parents have it and LOVE it. Sometimes they will lose a signal, but it will come back within a few mins. They bought a box for all the rooms in the house so everyone can watch what they want, in thier room.

I'm just so nervous that I'm going to be in the middle of watching a show or a Yankee game and the signal is going to go out. Is it that common that I should be worried or I'm I being too concerned?
