Thoughts on not having a toast..

Thoughts on not having a toast..

We are doing things differently and are not having any bp. No one in our family is really into public speaking and we would rather not ask them. I suggested asking one of his friends to make a short toast but FH thinks that is almost creating a bp or choosing a best man. So he is against that idea. He is an only child and I have one sister who HATES speaking in public.

Besides making a toast ourselves (which we don't want to do b/c we will already be nervous), does anyone have any advice on what to do? Should we leave out the champagne altogether or just include it but not have a toast?

You could just leave it out. People probably will be having such a great time that they won't even notice. Can one of your parents maybe say a few words? If not, you can maybe give a toast thanking everyone for being a part of your special day.

I wouldn't worry about it. I wouldn't miss it at all as a guest. You can thank everyone in your thank-yous. Let it go and have a great time...everyone else will too!

I would say have one of the parents give the toast

If its going to make you or someone else that uncomfortable you can just skip it. I'm sure no one will notice. Or you could also just have the MC say 'everyone raise your glass and toast to the new Mr. and Mrs.' and leave it at that.
