Okay money is no object, so that is not the issue.


Tell me the PROS and CONS of


putting disposable cameras on the reception hall tables

VS.

putting a business card with something cute like:
'We know you took wonderful pictures,
we'd love to seen them, upload them to our wedding site
http://www.jfghldjkhfglkjfh.com'


I'm trying to decide what I want to do.
On one hand, I'll get a lot of dumbas* pictures if I put cameras on the table.
On the other hand, I could risk no one uploading pictures to the website.


If given a choice between the 2, what would you pick?

I would do both, but disposible cameras barely take a good picture. You can though, have them developed onto a picture CD and tell the film tech to only put the clear pictures on the CD making it less of a headache for you.

I like the idea of the buisness card, but how many people are going to do that for you? I have my wedding website and put the URL in my Christmas cards and maybe 10 of the 200 invited guests have signed the guestbook and took the polls, I could only imagine if I asked them to upload pictures for me!

you already know the pro's so i'm just going to list the cons (sorry to be semi-depressing):

DISPOSABLE CAMERA CONS:
-- reception only (not ceremony)
-- people have their own cameras and prob won't take pics with the disposable cameras
-- they're about $10 each which includes developing costs

PHOTO SHARING SITE CONS:
-- people get lazy and don't upload (i know i do)
-- people lose the URL of your pics site
-- quality of pictures isn't very good so you can't get them developed

i actually ordered this thing called a canditto (canditto.com) which is a machine that grabs pictures from the digital cameras at the reception itself. it's really good BUT is kind of expensive (they had a sale at one point ... you can check back for future sales and/or coupons) ...

I am all for the Photo Share site/Business cards. I sometimes feel the pics don't come out as good on disposables, or people will forget they are on the table and not use them.

My family is Photo Share site CRAZY! We have a site on Shutterfly where we all upload our photos to and it's seriously like updated every other day with someone's photos, so fur us it would make more sense to do it that way. I have actually create the site already and added an album with our E-Pics and I love that they have the feature on it to order photobooks if you wanted. I also have it set that you can post videos as well if anyone feels so inclined to film something that day (which I am going to incourage because we are not getting video).

Attached is a picture of my brother business card he had made for free www.vistaprint.com for his wedding. Many people uploaded the pics (including myself) and I simple loved this idea.

There's a company that rents out REAL digital cameras for the tables, then you send them back and it puts them on a website AND gives people the opportunity to upload THEIR photos to the same site. Best of both worlds!

That's really cool .. i'd def do this over the disposable cameras (about the same price anyhow) ... BUT, most people bring their own cameras and use those for pics so i'm not sure how many pics you'll actually get.

I think it really depends on the crowd. I've been surprised at past weddings by how few people bring cameras.

i would do neither. in my opinion, i think that its one more unneccesay thing to think about and another expense.
Your photog is going to capture great moments of everyone at the reception and people will probably post the pics they took on their cameras on facebook!

I know I'll see all my friends posting pictures on facebook. I was thinking the website more for my aunts/uncles/cousins/older crowd who don't use social networking sites.



I'm still torn, but I'm leaning towards the business cards.
The sad part is, I'm leaning towards the cards because they will be less obtrusive and less clutter on the table than cameras.

I believe it's $450 now ... but i ordered it on sale about a month or two ago and it was $250 (which includes shipping both ways, and keeping it for one week so you can use it at your RD, bach party, etc also)

i am crashing and me be the oddball...

isnt the point of either choice so you get the pics the photog wont get? With that being said, of course there will be silly pictures on the disposable cameras... but isnt that really the point? from my experience, people will take more random pics with a disposable then with their own camera....

its your call... if you want to see moments you would have missed, i say disposable,

if you want posed nice pics that you may have dups of with yoru photog, go for the cards

I agree with you - I don't think some people are realizing the whole point is to get more funny random pictures. I'm going to have 5 million pictures of myself- I'm not worried about people taking pictures of ME with the cameras.. I want to see THEIR pictures, of themselves, our friends, people at their table, etc. The pics the photographer would never get unless I book 10 photographers.

btw what makes you say the disposable will come out better than the cards? I wouldn't think it would be the same kind of pictures..

i may be generalizing... but i tend to find people take less 'fun pictures' on a digital... i assume they will be more table normal shots that you may get from yoru photog

disposable will be stupid faces, waitors butt being grabbed, beer botles hidden in dresses (not that ive done any of the above)
