Okay money is not a factor, so that is not the issue.
Tell me the PROS and CONS of
putting disposable cameras on the reception hall tables
VS.
putting a business card with something cute like: 'We know you took wonderful pictures, we'd love to seen them, upload them to our wedding site http://www.jfghldjkhfglkjfh.com'
I'm trying to decide what I want to do. On one hand, I'll get a lot of dumbas* pictures if I put cameras on the table. On the other hand, I could risk no one uploading pictures to the website.
If given a choice between the 2, what would you pick?

My vote is for the cards:
People will take the cameras home with them (I did this for my sweet 16, and out of like 20 cameras, I think I got 5 back) Most disposables take crappy pictures You're going to get a lot of dumb pictures Most people have digitals now

If you put cameras on the table, put a 'scavenger hunt' with them or you're going to end up with really crappy pictures and several cameras that have hardly been used at all. If your wedding is at night or you're doing any sort of mood lighting, the disposable cameras will not work or work barely at all.
I did shutterfly cards on the tables and got about 150 photos on there from friends (better pics were on FB, to tell you the truth). I didn't end up ordering ANY of the pics other people took, but it was really, really cool to see on the HM!
Another option is to give some cousins who are like teenager age some cheap digital cameras and ask them to go to town for candid photos the whole night. You'll end up with a totally different perspective. They also have 'disposable' digital cameras now a days too.

Anyone have any experiences with using the cameras? I've seen some funny pics with the cameras but idk.
My biggest issue is that at my girlfriends wedding there was a handful of people that never made it into any of the professional shots. With 2 photographers, even going to every table (people are always moving around) they still managed to miss people with her 200+ guest list.
I also think it is rude to photograph people eating, which is the only time everyone is really sitting.
Idk I'm torn.

ITA with all of this. To be honest, every wedding I have been to with disposable cameras, we would take drunken pictures of each other, and none of the bride and groom at all!!! I kind of like the idea of developing the pictures to see what funny ones there would be though!
The website is a great idea, it will let people pick out good pictures that they want to share with you, and it's all in a central location that you can look at!

I think disposables are a waste, we used them for an event at work and basically got a handful (if that) of pictures worth keeping.

We had them at our wedding and 95%of the pictures were to dark the other 5% weren't anything great. IMHO they are a waste of money I wanted to go with a bussiness card but DH wanted the cameras and I found them for $2.00 each so I figured WTH and bought them.

My thoughts exactly! And you could probably get them for like FREE from visaprint or something!

Better to use cards... they would definetly bring their own digital cameras :)

I think you're better off with the cards. Then people can take and post unlimited pictures + you could get a lot of random pics.
Orrr
if $$ isn't an issue, why not do both?

clutter! lol
One of the big reasons on my 'cons' list for the cameras.. is that they take up room on the table and make it look more cluttered.
I know that probably sounds crazy to everyone but I hate clutter! lol
I am a minimalist at heart! (even though you've never know that from the wedding planning that I've been doing lol)
