Re: Thread Count on Sheets
well, the best thread count I've found is 1,000---bed,bath, and beyond---but they cost big $$$. Average is $150-$200 a sheet (not for the set, but A SHEET). We registered for 600 thread count sheet sets and got them---they are pure luxury ($99/set) !!! Very soft and comfy--we also registered for the Hotel Brand flannel sheets--and they are heaven on earth!!!

1000 is awesome, but as another poster said, expensive. Try 500-600 if you can swing it. Or of course register for it!!!!!!!!!!

i think when there is too much Thread Count, it is weirdly soft. I don't know - but 350 does it for me.

the higher the better! I have a set of 400's that are a dream. I'm going to register for another set too.
PS - what really pisses me off is all the designers (tommy hilfiger, dkny, calvin klein) charge an arm and a leg for their sheets and they are only 200 thread.

Re: Thread Count on Sheets
It is important to consider the cotton type as well as the thread count. If it is a high thread count but not so great cotton they won't be as soft. You should look for egyptian cotton which is lovely.
We registered (and got) the hotel sheets from B,B & B) and they are wonderfula nd reasonably priced ($89 for a queen set). I can't remember if they are 600 or 400 thread count though.
My husband refuses to sleep on any other sheets!!
