They opened the new church! Have you seen it?? My mom's best friend was there 'opening weekend' (last weekend) for the wedding of a girl I went to hs with and said the place is just GORGEOUS. We were up in NY in March and got to take a peek. Can't wait to come back later this month to see it for real!!!

Re: Thrilled and other CTK Brides...
Alison - I was there Wednesday night!!!!!! They had a Liturgy planning session in the new church - it is freaking AMAZING! It is very light and spacious and airy - lots of light, lots of windows and the ceilings are very high. Ver modern. The entire thing is tiled so....Father Sean told us the following:
No runners (provided by the limos - the adhesive used to stick the runners will ruin the tile) No birdseed No rice No rose petals Bubbles only
No flower girls dropping petals along the aisle. Pew bows/flowers must be attached to the pews with either elastic or rubber bands - no wire, no adhesive, no tape, nothing sticky.
Other than that everything is fabulous! They also built a specially landscaped area alongside the church specifically designed for pictures. I'm so excited!

Re: Thrilled and other CTK Brides...
AWESOME! Thanks a ton for the update!!
We are going to be meeting with Father Joe when we're in town in a few weeks, so I'm sure he'll give us the scoop, but I am glad to have the info earlier! We actually did know about the 'no throwing anything' rule...that was BEFORE the new church, even (not sure why...it's not like the old church was nice or anything...) and we don't have a flower girl or anything, so we should be ok as long as we let our florist know about the pew bows.
Are you having floral arrangements for the front of the church, btw?

Yes - we are having altar flowers - it's a nice thing to do for the church but sort of a waste of money for the bride, esp if we dont carry them over to our cocktail hour. Maybe I'll see if there's a bride after me that day who will want to split the costs with me.....that's what Fr. Sean suggested.

Alison - I think my mom was at that ceremony. She works with the girl's mom. All reports say the church is indeed gorgeous.
And to think, they were originally saying it'd be done in time for MY wedding - HA!

Re: Thrilled and other CTK Brides...
Lisa, the woman was Linda Gregory...she went to HS with us. She was two years ahead of me. I actually was in her limo for her senior prom, as I went with someone as a sophomore. I remember her wearing a HUGE hoopskirt that barely fit in the limo. All I could think of when my mom told me this was, I wonder if her wedding dress looked like that too!! LOL, I am so bad.
My mom's best friend is Ginny Maina...does your mom know her?
Thrilled, I think we are doing altar flowers as well but our florist says he'll move them to the reception hall for us.

Alison- my mom does know Ginny. She also worked with her daughters Jen and Kelly at Hubbs.
Mom's friends with Judy, Linda's mom. She wasn't at the reception, just went to the ceremony (she can't get enough of weddings). I don't remember Linda from HS, but she would've been 3 years ahead of me.
