We are all pretty fortunate to have a message board to come to in the time of stress, venting, or laughter.. But often times, I see that we are stressed or angry about a particular situation and we vent away.... however, I think there is more positive than negative in the entire planning process so my question is....
What is one positive thing you've experienced regarding the planning process while on the boards that you wouldn't experience if it weren't for the boards?
At the beginning of the planning process, I searched for answers from FH in helping out with every detail. It was a stressful time because he didn't really have the 'bride's point of view' necessarily. I think in the end FH trusts my judgement with things like DOJ or narrowing down the vendors for hair and makeup so I haven't really asked him for advice on those small details. If I didn't have the boards though, I wouldn't have gone to etsy to look for my garter, flower pins for the reception etc. In that sense, I am grateful for the girls on the boards who give their opinions and offer suggestions to girly things.
So what are your positive experiences?? I look forward to your answers!

ummm Everything! Apart from the RH, If it wasn't for these boards I wouldn't have known about ANY of our vendors! This site has just been an awesome source for reviews on certain vendors and helped us make our decisions a lot easier.

I've learned so much with this board. If it wasn't for liweddings I wouldn't have learned to many different ideas and ways to cut cost. I booked all my vendors thanks to you ladies and suggestions. I'm doing bpic, which was something that never crossed my mind. You girls have made this experience so beautiful for me.
Great now I'm all sentimental now!!!!!

I think getting answers to questions that are relevant to the area...
I have participated on national message boards in the past and all it was is bickering judgmental people, who don't understand what its like to plan a wedding in NY.
A big example is not only wedding cost (big difference between a wedding in Long Island and a wedding in Oregon for example) but also gift giving. So if I vented on this other board that my rich cousin gave me $50 in an envelope, no card, and it was from him, his wife, and his 3 adult children, the response would automatically be 'You selfish b*tch! You should be appreciate of whatever you get! Gifts are not mandatory and you are horrible for thinking otherwise.' HERE on the other hand I would probably get 'Are you serious? My mother would be so pissed if that happened to me, especially since she 'did the right thing' for her cousin's children's weddings.'
And on LIW, you can get feedback about specific vendors and other local NWR things...you can't get that anywhere else. Before I booked my limo company, I searched it here for reviews. Before we placed our invitation order, we searched 'how many extra invites should I order?' Here, you not only get straightforward, relevant answers, and from people who don't have an agenda (like family or friends can sometimes).
This board has seriously been a Godsend

i agree with italianbella, people here know what its like to plan a NY wedding, even my friends and family from CT dont get it as much, they are like why are you spending so much on a wedding????
because there is no cheaper place to get married with the way I want my wedding and im not compromising!

1. I wouldn't have any of the vendors I do now if it wasn't for LIW, and awesome recommendations by you ladies,
2. I feel like I've met some really amazing girls off this site that I wouldn't have otherwise known which makes me happy
