For me, unless it was family or a close friend, I'd leave a Thursday wedding early and probably wouldn't make it to the ceremony. Friday, I'd still probably not make the ceremony, but at least I'd have the weekend to look forward to. But that's just MHO!

Friday! That's what we did and I wouldn't have changed for anything! Not even if I could afford a Saturday.

Re: Thursday .vs. Friday wedding
I was a Friday night bride and it was FANTASTIC. I had about 50 guests at the ceremony and everyone went to the reception- 145 guests.
If you need to save money, do the Thursday....in the end you have to do what works best for you.

Re: Thursday .vs. Friday wedding
I considered a Thursday but DH's thoughts were that the out of town people (and we had a lot) would have to take off even more days...Thursday and Friday and possibly even Wednesday if they were flying or coming to the rehersal. So it depends on who you're inviting. I know that I got upset when people left early for my Sunday night wedding but at least they made the church. I guess if you're okay with it you'd just have to consider that people might both leave early AND arrive late if they can't get out of work. Your close family & friends will make though.

Re: Thursday .vs. Friday wedding
For a thursday night wedding, you run the high risk of guests leaving early. Given how much weddings costs and how much planning goes into them, I wouldn't like it if many guests left very early.

As a guest I would prefer attending a Friday wedding. I would appreciate being able to sleep in on Saturday after the wedding!

From a guest's point of view, a Friday is easier simply because most ppl don't have to get up for work the next day. But if you are on a tight budget, Thursdays are much friendlier The bottom line is whichever day you choose, the ppl that love and care about you and your FH will be there, and you can't make everyone happy, so do what's best for you

Re: Thursday .vs. Friday wedding
As a guest, I would much prefer a Friday night. I could take a half day if necessary, and that's it.
For a Thursday, I'd have to do a half day to make the ceremony and possibly the reception, and leave early to go to work or take the next day as well.
Friday is the least disruptive.

Re: Thursday .vs. Friday wedding
definitely Friday. I don't think I'd kick back and relax to the same degree if I had it in my mind the whole day that I had to wake up early to get to work.

We're having a Thursday night wedding for this reason..& Friday was my first choice but seeing that we were starting at zero when we got engaged, financially this is what worked the best for us. It cut the price per person more than in half for the month of June & we got an amazing deal from our vendors too. I didn't want to have to sacrifice the month or time of year which we were going to originally do..I know everyone probably hates the idea of it but this is the way we could have it at the place of our dreams & also save for a house & take a honeymoon. I know everyone that can will do their best to be there for however long & when they can.

Re: Thursday .vs. Friday wedding
I think what ever works for you is best. My cousin got married on a Thursday and I was fine with it. I only took off Thursday and then went to work on Friday. It was only one day to get through!
The only downside is people may not make it to your ceremony.
Best of luck in making the decision!!

I completely agree laBellaVita!!!
We are doing a Thursday night too in order to save money yet have our summer wedding. Most of our guests are teachers or are self employed and we asked others if they preferred a Thursday or a Sunday... Thursday was better and they all loved the idea of taking Friday off and still having their weekend. They did not want to leave late Sunday night and have to go through a whole week of work. In the end it all depends on your guests and what makes you happy. No one will remember what day of the week it was... Good Luck but Thursdays are becoming very popular
