Tie for my Groom - help!

Tie for my Groom - help!

Well, I convinced my FH to buy a tux and he looks amazing in it!
Here's the question - they tried to sell us an ivory tie to go with it (and it goes perfectly) but they want an obscene amount of money for it...I thought we could find one similar for a lot less $.

Looking for a nice ivory tie with a ivory pattern (tone on tone) dots or some other pattern (but NOT stripes - the vest has stripes and don't want to be matchy).

Macy's had a nice hugo boss one but it had stripes. We went to Brooks Bro and one other place - nothing. I even tried google for on-line vendors - nothing in ivory.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Do they have Jos. A. Banks in NY? They have a ton of nice ties there.

I second Jos A Banks- they always have good stuff, and they sell tuxes, too, so they'll have some options there.

What about other tux stores? Most of them sell ties, and another store might not be as pricey.

You could also try a Hugo Boss store- I'm not sure where they have them in NY, but there's got to be one somewhere. There's also a store called the Tie Rack that's usually in malls. Again, not sure where there's one up there, but they have a lot of ties there. Lord and Taylor usually has good stuff, too. Good luck!

Re: Tie for my Groom - help!

my coworker always makes them throw the tie in for free. He says he makes them mark up the suit with chalk markings to do the tailoring, and then says 'okay, what tie do I get with this?'. When they say 'You don't get a tie with this' - he says, 'I always get a free tie when I buy a suit.' When they say they don't do that, he says, 'then I don't want the suit'. Meanwhile, it's all chalked up already! So, they say, 'Go pick out your tie!'.

Try doing that! Or something similar. Maybe you can say you really think the tie completes the suit and you will only buy the suit if they throw in the tie or give you a serious discount on it.
