Time Between Ceremony and Reception with Poll

Time Between Ceremony and Reception with Poll

Hey girls. I'm not sure what the proper etiquette is so I thought I would ask you guys. We just booked our ceremony and reception. Our church is at 2:30pm and the reception doesn't start until 7pm. Are we supposed to arrange for a place for our guests to hang in between the two? is it enough time that they can go home and then go back? We are having very few OOT guests and those that are coming have immediate family here (and thereby a place to hang). What do you think? TIA for your help!

I have the same issue...but my ceremony is at 2:00. We're going to have our home available for any guests who like to stay there for a few hours....

I have the same exact time schedule. Im not providing a place as most people will go back home or will find something to do during that timeframe. All the OOT's are family so they will be at my aunts house.

Thanks for the help ladies. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with this timeframe.

I'm similar. Mass is at 3 cocktail is at 7. I'm not providing a place for them to go inbetween. There are a handful of OOT'ers but most are local. Imo they have plenty of time to go home and freshen up. RH is about 30 min from the church so it's not that big of a deal for me.

Half of our guests are coming from OOT and IMO it wouldn't be fair in our situation to have a big gap in time between the ceremony and RH. Sorry, not much help

i dont think you have to but i do think its a nice idea... if your parents live near the church that would be nice if not maybe your rh can accomodate the early guests???

My ceremony is at 3pm & the cocktail hour for the reception starts at 7:30pm. We are doing a full mass, & it is a 30 minute commute from the ceremony location (my parish about 5 minutes from my house) & the reception location. I think most of our OOT guests will be family.

I don't think you're obligated to make arrangements for them, and I don't think you should feel bad if you don't. Take into consideration that many people won't run out of the church once the ceremony is over. Many people will probably hang around & mingle, which will cut some time as well. We will probably open my house to family members looking for a place to go in between locations. Every one else its up to them. I think realistically, many people will go home, freshen up, those from out of town probably have hotel arrangements, get together with friends also attending the wedding & catching up, ect, and time will pass quickly.

I wouldn't stress too much over it.

our RH has it open for drinks & a few snacks i think for the time in between - but we only have about an hour in between so i dont think many people will have a problem!

My ceremony is at 3 and my CH starts at 7:30. Originally we weren't planning to do anything, and just let guests figure out what to do with themselves. We figured local people could go home, and OOT'ers can go back to the hotel.

But FIL's are insisting on doing something. It seems they're planning to ask the hotel to have the bar open for a pre-CH cocktail party and hosting it themselves. Whatever, that's fine if they want to pay for it.....but it's not coming out of my budget.

My parents are opening up there house for people to go back to.

But my whole family is from Queens and we are getting married in Nassau so it wouldn't make sense for them to have to go back and forth.

I have a gap too - my church is at 3 and my CH is at 7. My aunt is having people at her house because she literally lives 5 minutes from WM. That'll probably be just my family though, FH's family will have to find something to do. I was freaking about this in the beginning but then after I vented to 293797 people about it, I'm not anymore. People will have to deal and find something to do. You can't make 200 people happy, it's impossible! lol

Thanks girls. I'm feeling better about this already. I have plenty of time to figure it out, but it has been stressing me anyway.
