Do any of you girls have a big gap between your church and reception? We originally we're having our church at 3 and reception at 7 but when we went to the different vendors they told us we'd never make it to our cocktail hour (which is something we definately want to attend). So we moved the church up till 2pm but I'm worried its way early and a big time difference. Any thoughts?

Re: Time between Ceremony & Reception
Why would they say that to you !!!! You would have enough time in between if your CH starts at 7 .....How far is the RH from the ceremony ??? And how many hours will it take for you to do pictures ??????????

Re: Time between Ceremony & Reception
Well I told one of the vendors we wanted to definately be able to make it to our cocktail hour and they said it would be really difficult because there is always so much traffic on a friday in the summer going into long island if we didn't leave ourselves more time. Then I had a free consult with an event planner and she told me also that it would be tight?!
Without Traffic --30 minutes With Traffic--Depends possibly over an hour

Same boat...I currently have a 3:00 ceremony and 7:30 CH start...which sounds like plenty, except it's a Greek Orthodox ceremony, which is an hour. Church and RH are a good 45 minutes away from each other, and then when you factor in receiving line, church pictures, traffic/accidents/bad weather slowing down transit...eep!

Re: Time between Ceremony & Reception
The church starts at 1;30pm and the cocktail hour starts at 6:30 but our church is in the city and RH on Long Island so we REALLY need the extra time..Especially since our wedding is a Friday evening!

Re: Time between Ceremony & Reception
My times are the same as yours! I feel like there will be SO much time in between... My church is 3-3:45 and my reception is 7-1 So it's gonna be a long day. I was probably going to take a bunch of bridal party pics in between.. Are you doing pics before your ceremony? That might get some important ones out of the way..
