Time between chuch and reception

Time between chuch and reception

Thanks, I'm in debate about 2 locations, and the only thing FH family is concerned with seems to be the travel time, so, I'm curious to hear opinions.

my parents were a little turned off by the hour drive for my cousin's wedding last October. I don't know what my opinion is....I guess I don't care that much. My thought is if they don't want to drive then they won't come!

The time spent traveling will concern guests between the church and the reception bc 1) they usually don't know where they're going and they don't want to get lost and 2) traffic regardless of when the wedding is held. But for a Sunday night wedding there's also the concern of driving home after the reception, esp since most of your guests probably have to work the next day. Be prepared for some guests to leave a little early.

My brother who is a photographer likes the bigger time gap for pictures. I have been too plenty of weddings with a time gap of 3 + hours. Time usually goes pretty quickly.

I have seen alot of nice reception venues out east. But i can not choose them because i am concerned about travel time. We both have an older family so i know the guests will want a short drive.

my wedding mass is at 4 and the cocktail hr begins at 7 (but they agreed to open things up at 630 for the early arrivers)...the church is about 45 minutes to hr away (depending on traffic on the lie)from the rh

us too - our reception is a 45 min drive from the church - my mass is at 3:30 and my reception at 6:30 but they will open early for us....and we have the same date!!

I would try and keep the distance to an absolute minimum. My Church adn RH are a 30 minute drive apart and its caused so much extra conversations about getting around and being in a car and elderly people getting around, etc...

You should totally do what you want to do, but just be prepared for the headache.

Our church was from 3-4:30 and then reception at 6:30...honestly I wish the reception had started later to allow more time for pictures

so, it seems ok that the reception would be 40 minutes. I just worry about people living in Manhattan and NYC, See, we are in debate with LI or Westchester but the place in LI has a bigger dance floor and I want to dance!

i was concerned about that too since we have a lot of oot guests. our mass is at noon and ch starts at 5! i wanted to keep the time gap to a minimum but we wanted an evening reception. our vendors said that this time would just fly by with all the pictures. our rh is about 20 minutes from the church.

Our ceremony was at 2:30, with CH at 7:00 PM. There was an hour drive between the two locations. Guests that wanted to be there - were. I drove an hour and a half to get from the church to the reception for a friend in May. I wanted to be there so I was.

IMHO go with your heart. Whatever location is the one YOU like the best, that is the one you should book.
