I am getting married on a Saturday and the cocktail hour starts at 6pm. I have the choice of two times for the church...either 1pm or 3pm. I think 1pm might leave too much time in between but 3pm might not be enough time to take pics. What time do you think is better? I'd have a long mass if I picked 1pm and a short one if 3pm. Thanks!

Re: Time between church and reception
My church starts at 2:30 and my CH starts at 6:30. I am a little afraid we will be crunched for time. I think it all depends on a few different things. How long will your ceremony last? Is it just a ceremony (30 minutes) or a full mass (60 minutes)? You also have to factor in about 15-30 minutes after the mass for a receiving line and pictures at the church. Also, how far away is your RH from your church? Where are you taking pictures and where is the location for those? There are so many factors that really make a difference.

Re: Time between church and reception
Thanks for the replies... the church and RH are 2 blocks away from eachother. We would like to go to a beach about 10 mins away for pics. If we started at 3, we'd do just a ceremony, no mass. I think we'd have enough time but it will be pushing it.

I would do 3 pm, I think that's going to be plenty of time since they are all so close to each other.

Re: Time between church and reception
Our church is 3 PM (as of now) and CH @ 6 PM. We are having about a 25-30 min ceremony. We should be done with the receiving line and a few extra pics by 4-4:30. About 20-30 mins to RH and we still have 1-1 /12 hrs to take pics before CH. We are okay with missing a few mins of CH but I want to run up and look at it before everyone else.

same here..... ceremony's about an hour long so if we're on time we'll be outta there by 4 and russos wants us there by 5:30 which leaves us 1 hour 30 minutes to drive to pic location, take pics, and drive to rh, so we'll def be o a tight schedule
since your only takin gpics at the rh id go with the 3pm start time

yes cheryl...i am new to this site... loving it!!! thanks for your reply. we are getting married in staten island and the church and reception hall are 1 min away from eachother so i think the 3:00 start will work. i dont wanna rush but i dont wanna have a ton of time in between either.

Re: Time between church and reception
I think 3:00 would be better so there's not such an extended time between Ceremony and Reception.
