time frame btwn pictures & ceremony

My FH & I have decided to do the untraditional first look and take most of our pictures before the ceremony, so we enjoy our friends/family/cocktail hour. I was told by my photographer that I need to be getting the finishing touches of my makeup around 1:30 so I can be getting in my dress around 2 and take pictures from there. I am getting ready at a hotel around 10 minutes away from where we are getting married. The ceremony starts at 6:30 and since there is a wedding before mine I can't get into Giorgio's until 5:30-6:00. The girls doing my makeup/hair have decided that we should all start getting ready at 8!

I am a little uneasy about all the this, first having to get ready at 8 for a 6:30 ceremony. We are all going to be exhausted by the time its time to walk down the isle. And to have to be done with my make up, hair and dress on by 2... 4 1/2 hours before the ceremony starts, i feel like I won't look fresh anymore.

What would you do?!

That's a long day! If the girls are coming earlier because they have more girls to do, don't go first so you can get some rest. If not it sounds like they're asking for alot of time.

Honestly I agree with soon2be, I would wait as long as you could only cause hair and makeup might start to get a bit sloppy waiting that long.
That's my major concern.
Plus getting up that early you will be exhausted. No one wants a tired, cranky bride!

That's not surprising... your ceremony might be at 630 but you need to be ready for your pictures by 2. The makeup and hair people won't do yours until the last minute so you'll be the freshest for your pictures...

Are you getting airbrush? You might want to consider it because it holds longest. Your makeup person should know to use really good primer and a setting product that should make it stay for a long time. You should also bring some q-tips, a makeup sponge and maybe some of the same products the artist is using so you or a bridesmaid can freshen it up before the ceremony and/or reception.

You also might want to ask your makeup artist if she'd be willing to create a package for you where she would stay with you for a few hours after to re-freshen your makeup. I'm booked with Christy Ann of Christy Ann Cosmetics and i'm doing a package where she will stay with us for 7 to 8 hours and fix the bridal party's makeup and such. My ceremony is at 3:30pm, pictures afterward, and then reception at 7pm. She'll probably be with us from 12 or 1pm til the reception.

All my girls are getting their hair and makeup done so thats why it starts so early. Like EAY213 Im also getting my makeup done by Christy Ann and she is going to come back before my reception starts at 9PM to fix me and the girls.

Are you doing pics in between ceremony and reception?

Re: time frame btwn pictures & ceremony

I have 9 girls in my bridal party, only 2 are getting their hair and make up done by the lady I am using, plus my mom and MIL ...besides that 5 others are getting just their hair done (so they won't be coming til much later), and the other 2 are getting theirs done separate somewhere else. So I will most likely have my hair and makeup done while I wait for the other 5 girls to get done.

I don't know what to do. I really don't want to start this early, but I also want to take pictures before my ceremony
