So I'm going to have about hour 1/2 -2 hours between the two. FMIL has mentioned a few times already oh where are we going to go and oh it's 2 hours. My family mentioned it once too so I'm leaning toward they don't feel like having his family at the house lol. My mother has an apt, doubt she will want to have a big group there and I doubt my grandpa feels like it either. So where are they supposed to go. They are all going to be in the same limo too unless I cut the limo out lol.

Re: Time in between the church and reception
Are you guys booking hotel rooms? Perhaps they can go back to the hotel if that's the case. That's what my mom, FMIL, and aunts are doing.

Re: Time in between the church and reception
Well, you and the bridal party can take pictures between.
After church, people will say bye to you and then driving to the RH wil take some time. How far is the hall? Can you ask if your hall can provide drinks for people who come early? Mine does, so I would ask.
Otherwise, I'm not sure. If it's OOT can they go to the hotel and then shuttle to RH?

Re: Time in between the church and reception
Honestly, don't worry about it. I have like 3 1/2 hours in between, and all of our guests are just going to go back to either their houses or the hotel and chill in between.
I've also been to a bunch of weddings where this has happened and we used the time to change for the reception and hang out - not a big deal at all.

Is your immediate family having the concern? If so, why can't they be with you when you and the BP are taking pictures? That's what my best friend did and everyone was taking pictures or when they weren't, walking around the gardens.

Don't stress about it. Maybe make the suggestion that they can go back to the hotel and check in so they don't have to worry about it after the wedding. Just check with the hotel and see what time check in and at and if the church ends before check in ask if there is an early check in avaliable. Once they check in they can put their stuff in their rooms and relax and make their way over to the reception hall. You may want to call the reception hall and see if they can have champagne and strawberries or something waiting for early arrival of guests.
Good luck!

No, it's his family. But they are going to be in the same limo.

Re: Time in between the church and reception
I'm in the same boat but we aren't getting a hotel room since I have a tiny bridal party (just parents. my aunt, and MOH). Church will be over by 4:30 pm and cocktail hour doesn't start until 7 pm. Its only 30 min drive from the Church to the RH so I figure we find a spot to take pictures.

Re: Time in between the church and reception
Ugh, I hate having this conversation. We have about 3 hours in between and FIL's felt they needed to host something so people would have somewhere to go. I figured people would either just go back to the hotel or go home, but whatever.
So they're going to host a 'hospitality' hour (or two) at the hotel bar in between.

We are doing the same. We have about a 3 hour window. Most of the people are going to the hotel to check in. My mom is having her hair stylist there for a touch up.
Then they are going to the lounge for pre party drinks!
