Time in btwn Ceremony & Reception

I know that a lot of you have mentioned this in some other posts but I was just curious, are you planning something for people in btwn the Ceremony and Reception?

I will prob have about 2.5 hours in between.

TIA

im not planning anything for people...

my mother mentioned having some people come back to the house..
and im sure FMIL will do the same thing...

But we havent crossed that bridge yet... when times are more confirmed we may try to come up with something.

We will be using that time for pictures and such..

yea we have a big time gap too but we haven't really planned anything cause we need that time for pictures since I'm booking Old Westbury Gardens.

once times and places are confirmed, I will probably extend an invite back to my house if people would like (or if FH's parents want to do the same), but I will be off taking pictures before I meet back up with everyone....so I am not sure yet.

we have a gap in between. Our RH offered us a pre-CH room that has a bar and a flat screen etc where our guests can enjoy an open bar, cheese, fruits, etc and little things like that and walk around the place.

if our hall didn't have that...we would have invited ppl to fmil's house which is like 2 seconds away from the church.

my dad said that oot guests will probably just go to the hotel and freshen up and not to really worry about it anyway but we wanted to do something nice for them. and local ppl know what to do or can figure out something.

We will probably have people back to the house. and FMIL will do the same. there isn't that big of a gap but still for about 1 hr they will go there. and during that time we will be taking our pics.

Same here, our ceremony is at 2:30 and our reception starts at 6:00. So we have a decent amount of time in between but that's just a lot of time for us for pictures without rushing!

We have a big gap too...Well our RH has a lounge with food, drinks and music for any guests that show up early...But you also have to figure that not all your invited guests will go to the ceremony, most just go to the RH...SO many of the guests will be close family and friends, and since the church is two blocks from FH's house, his mom will just have them over there for drinks and food and stuff if anything and they dont even have to stay there long since our RH accomodates early arrivals

I have a lot of time in between the Ceremony is at 2:30 & the Reception is at 6:30. It was at 7:30 but I was only able to move it up an hour. When I spoke with the Deacon from my church he said I can't worry about what everybody else is doing. I just have to think about myself. My mother was not happy with that.

I have a 2:30 ceremony and a 6:00 CH. To make matters even more confusing, the church is in Brooklyn and the RH is in NJ (what am I doing on Long Island weddings anyway, huh?). I am using the gap for pictures, I really want to head into the city and get some great shots there.
Since my mom lives in Atlanta , we don't really have a place to host people in between, but my FMIL lives a few blocks from the church and might do something like that, I haven't discussed it with her yet.
Most of our friends and the younger crowd in our families already decided that they are going to stay in a hotel near the RH that night, so I was thinking about getting some kind of bus to take them all to the hotel after the church so people can check in and hang out in their rooms before the reception (there is a shuttle bus that will take them to a RH)- although then people would have to bring an overnight bag to church...
I guess this is going to be more complicated then I thought, I think I'll wait a while before I start stressing over it!!!

you have plenty of reason to have time in between ... people are going to have to travel to NJ ... by the time they get there there wont be that much time before CH starts ...

yeah but the church and the RH are not that far away, like 30-40 minutes. I'm not having a mass, so I'm assuming we will be out of church by 3:30... so people are going to have an hour or two to kill. I think every wedding I've ever been to has this situation so I'm sure it will work out in the end for all of us who are having concerns!

I was gonna say, depending what part of jersey it can actually be pretty close to brooklyn

Re: Time in btwn Ceremony & Reception

Yes, MOST weddings are like this, so girls dont stress yourselves out...THis will be nothing new to your guests, they would probably be more surprised if there was only an hour gap in between...This is expected, especially for those getting married in a catholic church, your guests know that there is a mass on saturdays. This is also the reason why MANY guests go only to the reception, i seriously haven't been to the ceremony part in a long time...THose who are planning on going to the ceremony know the deal and what to expect, so do not worry.

Re: Time in btwn Ceremony & Reception

my ceremony will probably start at 2pm and the reception at 6pm. we need the 3 hr gap because the ceremony is in westchester and it'll take mostly everyone 45 min to get to the reception site in long island. also fh and i are planning on taking pictures at old westbury garden. our rh is allowing our guests to arrive up to 2 hrs early for refreshments at the lounge before cocktail hour.

I am sooo clueless about weddings...it's AMAZING!!! I asked my mom and she said what most of you guys did....she will have people over and serve some light food and drinks and then they will head over to the RH to take some pics with us. I am guessing since it is a Friday I won't have a lot of people at the Church anyway, but my immediate family will be there so I need to keep them entertained
