Timeline

Hi Ladies!
I have NO idea what time to begin the 'getting ready' portion of the wedding day! The hairstylist and makeup people need to know what time to come to the house, but I'm not sure when we should begin.
Should hair go first or makeup?
How much timeI leave for each?
How much time should I schedule in per BM?

If the wedding begins at 3pm (and I literally live 1 block away from the church) what time should I be ready for?
Is there a site where I can find a sample timeline?

I'm so confused!

Re: Timeline

Good questions. I too live exactly 1 block from my church We haven't finalized our wedding time yet, but it will probably be 4pm, photog arrives at 3:30pm so I plan to be ready by 3pm and have him take some pics at my house and going into the church etc.

I have no idea about hair and makeup time. Someone clarify please, but I *think* hair goes first and then makeup. I'm thinking about doing hair at 10:30 am, makeup at 1:00pm just so that I have enough time to have it all done. Also, if anyone else is having their hair and makeup done by the same person, you have to add time to your schedule for that.

Re: Timeline

I told my hair & make up girls what time I need to be at the RH (our ceremony will be there) and how many girls and she gave me an approx start time.

Re: Timeline

Someone posted info on this the other day...They say its about 2-2 1/2 hours for your hair and make up. Then calculate time to get dressed and whatever else needs to get taken care of...so anywhere from 3-4 hours

Re: Timeline

I just worked that out this weekend, because I got my hair done, and was trying to make my wedding day appointment, and didn't know what time to make it for!

After a call to my photographer, we came up with this...

my ceremony is also at 3, and also less than 5 minutes from home.....

11:30 hair appointment - my stylist wants 1 hour for my hair.

home by 12:45 - 1 pm.

1 pm makeup appt at my house.
makeup takes 30 minutes, according to my m/u artist, so I'm done by 1:30. She can do my mom & anyone else after me, while the photographer takes pics of me alone...

photographer will arrive between 1 - 1:30, get some pics of me getting m/u done, pics of invitations, dress hanging in my room, my parents, my bm's getting ready, etc.

1:30...my m/u is done, so pics of me getting dressed

1:45....I'm all dressed up & ready to go...1 hour of pictures at the house with everyone, and by myself...

2:45...head out to the limo to be at the church by 3...

i would call your m/u person, your hair person, and then your photographer.

You can tell your photographer if you want him there while you're getting ready, and if you've discussed it with your hair & m/u people, you can tell him how long it will take for hair & m/u with your vendors ( I would guess everyone works a a different pace!)

this was stressful for me...good luck with it!

I would ask your M/U person and hair person to give you an approximate time of how long they will take, and go from there. Give yourself time to wake up and kind of hang out before anything starts happening. I would say 3+ hours to get ready, depending on what you have planned, if your BMs are getting hair and M/U too dont forget to alot some time for them as well
