Timeline for planning

Timeline for planning

Hi Girls! Ok, so I've booked place for ceremony, reception, a band, photographer, and video. For all the other 'things', not sure when to really look into them. I was showing my FH some invitations and he was like, 'we have plenty of time, we don't need to do that yet'....

In Feb. I'm planning on looking @ flowers and we'll look into finding a rabbi.

Then I'll start looking @ dresses in the spring/summer.

As for BM dresses, favors, invites, hair, makeup (what else?!)... I'm thinking I'll do all that this summer. Does that sound about right? Am I missing anything major?

Thanks!

Invitations - I think you can hold off on that for a while unless you are planning on using someone who is high in demand. You also want to make sure that none of the information that is going on the invites is going to change. I would be hesitant to order any this early. You can certainly look though and maybe even order some samples so you can see them firsthand.

Flowers - I don't see any harm in meeting with florists (again, if you are using someone who is high in demand, you may want to start looking now).

Timline for dresses seems good.

BM dresses I wouldn't order until you have your dress, esp. if you want the style/material of your dress to kind of tie in with the BM dresses.

Hair and Makeup I would start looking around the summertime.

Favors - you can start looking and figuring out how many you would need and pricing them out.

You were missing Limos on your list. That I would hold off until the summer as well.

HTH!

Thanks so much! That definitely helps. We also need to check into hotels for out of towners...

For hotels - I was told by the one I was looking into that they wouldn't block off rooms till a year out, so I would keep that in mind.

For the invitation front - I am kind of stupid with this - but I started talking to an invite vendor and she said you can get the layout done but don't have to print right away, incase things change (re: info on the invite).

I am starting to shop around now b/c I have 2 in mind and one is pretty high in demand and I just found out the other I want is only doing 3 weddings a month b/c she gets so busy.

Samples are great - do your research on line for them and you can start shopping but don't get anything actually printed yet.

I'm on the same timeline as you - looking for dresses this May (1 year out) - and limos we will start probably in the next couple months b/c we want something very specific.
