Timeline question

Timeline question

My church ceremony will be ending at 11:00am. I am not going to have many people at my ceremony so i won't have a huge crowd to attend to. I wanted to take pictures at Flushing Meadow park by the Unisphere and probably get there by 11:30(which i think is more than enough time). Take pictures for 30 min or so then head over to my RH by 12:15 or so. My CH is from 12-1pm and my reception starts at 1:00pm.

Do you think i will have enough time to at least eat a little something, freshen up in the bridal suite then be ready for the reception by 1:00pm or am i pushing it too close?

Re: Timeline question

It makes me sad to see you're actually planning to miss a part of your cocktail hour. I don't know why, but I feel like missing any of your wedding shouldn't be something you plan to do, but if it happens it's ok.

I don't know where your locations are so I can't really say whether you'll have time to get out to Flushing Meadows and back in a reasonable amount of time. I know that traffic on the Grand Central around there is INSANE on Saturday mornings. I'm often driving from Brooklyn to Great Neck or Farmingdale (depending on which parent I'm visiting) and it literally takes me 1.5 hrs to go 30 miles. It's very frustrating.

If you're not able to meet before the ceremony to do pictures, maybe you could find a place that's more on the way instead?

If you have your heart set on Flushing Meadows Park, then by all means go for it! The most important thing is you're happy and you enjoy your day! I just would hate to see you miss more of your wedding than necessary especially if there are other great options available!

Hope that helps!

Truthfully, I think that pics should be quick, however, everyone keeps telling me i'm crazy, that I'll have a big dress to slow me down...blah blah blah, but the I think it's everyone else!

I think it takes so long to coordinate photos with the bp...so if you are planning to take pics with fh (well dh then) and the bp, 30 mins might not be enough time, unless you just want a few pics.

I think you'll be fine... We have sort of the same timeline... Don't stress it!!

Just want to give you another side,

I dont think that you will have enough time. If your ceremony is over at 11; people will want to talk to you and take pictures, congratulate you etc until around 11:30 or so. Even your photographer might want you to take some pics outside of the church when you're coming out and that takes time. Once you get to Flushing meadow give at least 45 min to an hour to for picture time. (Finding the perfect spot, getting good shots etc).
If you add maybe another half hour you should be ok.
Is going to your CH really important to you? I didn't go to mine and I didn't mind it. I used that time to get the family pics done.

I really don't want to miss my CH but i really have no choice . My ceremony is at 10:30 so i'm already pressed for time and can't really and don't want to meet before the ceremony. I'm choosing Flushing Meadow because we would pass it while going to my RH and we can hop onto the LIE relatively quickly so it's the most convenient place to take pictures.

ITA.. also, I dont plan on going to my CH because we are getting married at the RH and that will be our only time to take pics since we arent seeing each other before the ceremony to do so .. I know we will have all that food in our bridal suite, so we wont be missing out on anything

FH doesn't want to miss out on the food in the bridal suite, so if the reception starts we have to walk in right away? Ugh i hate this timeline crap

Re: Timeline question

Perhaps you can also ask them to make you a few plates of CH food to have at your table as well so you can take some bites here and there during the reception as well.

I totally understand your not wanting to see each other beforehand and definitely respect that. (We're going to do pics beforehand, but we have 0 time between the ceremony and reception since we're getting married at RH.)

I liked the suggestion someone else had of just doing some pics for you and FH there since it's on your way. What a great way to compromise! When it's just two of you, it shouldn't be nearly as tough to set it all up and get the shots you hope for!

Perhaps also speak with your photographer and see what they think of the idea, since they're the professionals.
