My wedding is over a year away. Knowing me, my tastes will change and I'm afraid if I buy my dress now, I won't like it anymore come time for the wedding...

Re: Timing for Dress
I ordered mine 9 months before the wedding. I wouldn't recommend buying it more than a year in advance. You are right, what if your tastes change?
Good luck!

Yeah I would wait a little bit longer...what if something else comes out that you like?

Re: Timing for Dress
I agree, wait at least until it is a year (or 11, 10 months away).

Re: Timing for Dress
I ordered mine the beginning of last may, so a little more than a year in advance. I haven't regretted it once.

Re: Timing for Dress
I bought mine about 8 months before.
I think you can wait until 8 to 6 months for many dresses (some very high end designers have longer fulfillment times).

Re: Timing for Dress
Also, I'd LIKE to be in tip top shape for the wedding so hopefully a few pounds thinner than I am now.
I wonder if I can make it down to my college weight...

Re: Timing for Dress
My wedding is in late Nov and I have not even thought about dresses yet. I know I have to start to look soon, but I wanted to get the florist and videographer and photographer booked before I think about my dress. I will hopefully have these things booked within thenext few weeks and then I will move onto dress shopping for me and my girls.

Re: Timing for Dress
Some designers take 8-12 months for the dresses to come in (plus you need about 2 months for alterations). Other dresses take only a few months to come in. I'd start looking about 1 year before, but you can always browse now just to get an idea of what you like.

Re: Timing for Dress
I had a relatively short engagement (9 months) I got engaged last February and didn't even start looking at dresses until the beginning of April. As luck would have it, I found a dress on the first day out!
My dress came in at the end of September, I had 3 fittings between the beginning of October and my November 13th wedding.

Re: Timing for Dress
My dress is actually taking a year to come in!! I looked for about a month before ordering, and at first I thought I was far ahead of schedule. Now I'm glad I ordered it when I did!! I placed the order April 15, and I know the salon put it thru the next day. Now it won't be in until April 10 this year, exactly 8 weeks before my wedding!!
I'm the type that once I make a decision I stick with it. If you're not, then once you order your dress I suggest that you STOP looking!! It'll only make you doubt your dress and you don't need that extra stress!!

Re: Timing for Dress
My wedding is July of 2007 and I won't even start to look until at least June. New stuff will come out so you should wait.
