timing issue.

timing issue.

I am getting married in Mount Sinai at 3 pm and having my reception at Giorgios at 6pm. I am sort of freaking out that its too much time in between but I wanted to have some time to take pictures. I've printing my invites so I am stuck. Do you think people are going to be very turned off by the basically 2 1/2 hour period between my ceremony and my reception?

I have 3 hours in between my ceromony and reception and they are only 20 minutes apart!! I am also not having a mass. I did that because I want to take pictures in between and don't want to miss my cocktail hour.

If people don't like it they don't have to go to the ceromony. Also If people live close they don't have to go to the ceromony 'dressed' and can go home and change.

No they will be fine! My ceremony is at 2:30 and my cocktail hour doesn't start until 7:00..they will find something to do in between. You need the time anyhow to take pictures and relax

not at all...i think the timing is perfect. better more time than not enough.... if u run short on time ur going to be rushing like a maniac for photos, have no time for a breather & the day will fly by faster then it already does... honestly i prefer a large gap because i hate going to the church in what i have to wear for the wedding..i prefer to go to the ceremony casual, and then have time to go home, get myself together & then get to the cocktail hour. My ceremony was at 5:00 on a friday and my cocktail hour didn't begin untill 8:30...my church was PACKED...not a seat in the house. so i wouldn't worry. if people are gonna come they'll come, if not they wont either way.

i think it's perfect timing. my mass is at 3pm and the cocktail hour begins at 7. i wish it was at 6!

My ceremony was 3 and Ch started at 7 and most of our guests came to the church.

i wouldnt worry about it too much-either they come or they dont

Thanks....I feel much better. My family has me so stressed that the guests will be bored between the ceremony and reception. I am not going to stress anymore though.

My times are basically the same Church at 3 & recption at 6:30.
It will give us time to take pics after the church & then you will be able to make it to cocktail hour.
I was worried in the beginning too....but after talking to photograher...I realized this is good for us.

i say definitely have a plan for your guests... while you're taking pictures maybe have your guests go for drinks somewhere, or meet at someone's home for cocktails and snacks... (provide them with the info maybe on your wedding website or something or an insert in your invites)

I'm going through the same worries...although I have some time to figure it out. My reception is at Giorgios's on sat night. I want to do the church early, so I can get some photos at Giorgio's when there is still daylight. My Mom is insisting I have the ceremony in Nassau...where most of my friends and family live...b/c she thinks no one will show up to the church if I have a 3 hr gap and they cant go home.

I just moved my church time giving us 4 hours between, I'm have my reception at Giorgios too and I was concerned about not having daylight for photos and in case the roads are icy it taking too much time to get out there. Not a person has complained we've all been there before in a situation with a long wait period and everyone just deals with it. Usually everyone goes to someones house and just hangs

I think it's pretty common to have that much time between the church and ceremony. Guests usually understand that you need the time to take pics before the reception. They should be able to find something to do while they're waiting. Also, your RH might allow them to arrive a little early if you ask.

That is exactly like us!!!

Maybe with the invitations, include a cute poem about how you know it's inconvenient but you're the bride and you get what you want! And at the bottom include a list of some cool things to do during the break around your reception hall or the church to give people ideas.

I don't know what your budget is like but if I had the money, I would include gift cards to starbucks, dunkin donuts, things like that with the invites and a list of locations in the area - Have a drink on us while you wait...something like that.

Re: timing issue.

that is actually not a bad gap. My ceremony was 2:30 and ch started at 7:30 and let me say that we only got to the RH 30 mins before. We took pics for a little over 2 hours. Ceremony ended around 3pm, then did receiving line, took a few pics outside of church then headed to location for pics. From 4-6:15 took pics then after drove to RH.

Plus people are used to it. EVERY wedding ive been to the gap is the same. All ceremonies were at 2 or 2:30 and CH started anywhere from 7-8pm. People know to expect this of weddings. I was married on a saturday at a catholic church and they have mass at catholic churches on sat's, plus confession before so many churches the latest you can do it is about 3pm. So even if we wanted to do it later we couldn't and im glad i didnt bc we needed the time in between.

Re: timing issue.

I have that kind of timing but I purposely wanted it to be longer so that on a Friday people could leave work a little early for the ceremony and then go home and change for the reception and get out there in time. I hope it works... we just have to do what we need to do and hope for the best. Or even have the bp and friends spread the word of some ideas of where to go /what to do... remember Georgios has that side bar/restaurant - people can be notified that is available

No... It's fine. You need that time to travel and take pictures . If you worry about everyone else and try to rush you'll end up ruining your dau and that's who it is about! Talk to your RH and see if they can accomidate guests who come early. I am getting married in Larkfield and they open a room 1 hour before the Cocktail hour to accomidate people who have no where to go.

It's important that you finish everything you need to do before the reception. You spent a long time and alot of money planning your wedding and you want to enjoy it!
