How close to the wedding should the final dress fitting be scheduled?

mine was a week before, my weight was fluxuating too much to do it to far in advance

ugh..mine was 2 weeks before and I am PANICKING b/c I had lost weight and they had to take it in..now I'm worried my dress will be too small
