Timing problem with a vendor i already booked...UPDATE!
I'm not gonna say which vendor because it's a vendor on here...but i booked this persons services back in the fall, signed the contract and left a deposit. then i get an email a few days ago saying the day of my wedding is their daughters graduation. their original arrival time was pushed back by 2 hours so that they can attend the ceremony. should i be worried??? I dont want to tell this person i'm upset about the graduation, i would never expect them to miss it. but instead of pushing it back, should i just find a different vendor???? i have 56 days left!!!!
UPDATED AT BOTTOM!

I wouldnt say anything yet to the vendor. I would search around for the alternative, and if you find one ask for your deposit back. I would think if the contract signed said 10am then they are breaking it and you have a right to your deposit.
If you can't find another vendor, I guess you have to suck it up and wait til 12. Im so sorry!

Re: Timing problem with a vendor i already booked...
depending on the service the vendor is providing - 2 hours might be a lot - esp hair/ make-up/ photography/ limo....
Check your contract.. if the time is listed then they would be in breach of the contract and you should be able to get your money back and hire someone else. If it;s a vendor that isn't time sensitive like the DOC - who you could probably meet with the day before to go over any instructions or whatever - then you'll probably be ok.
Do what feels right for you... A vendor had no business accepting your business if they had a personal committment that same day.

I agree with the previous posters; you and the vendor negotiated a contract. Having to push you back a full two hours can have a HUGE impact on how smoothly everything else goes. The time you negotiated was 10 a.m. You have 56 days left, and they tell you about the time change when it's pretty late in the game. I honestly don't know how easy it would be for you to find another vendor with less than 2 months to go until your date. At the very least, they should give you a VERY nice deduction off your contract price for having to significantly rearrange the preagreed terms so late.

Re: Timing problem with a vendor i already booked...
It depends on the vendor and how critical those two hours are. For example, if it is hair and instead of arriving at 10AM, she is going to arrive at noon, that might be a problem for you. If it is makeup, it might not be that big a deal because makeup takes less time.
I would have to seriously evaluate what the vendor was supposed to be doing in those two hours before making a decision about seeking out someone else. I would also review my contract and try and call the vendor to discuss my concerns about the two hour delay causing timing problems for the entire rest of the day.

I also want to add that if you do cancel this vendor, or even after your wedding, you should name them on the boards. Everyone researchig their upcoming weddings would probably appreciate the heads up.

I just found out about when FH's graduation will be, so I think it is fair to say the vendor didn't know when they signed the contract. But, they obviously need to work things out with you and explain how they can still give the same service when they are showing up 2 hours late.

i agree with this...they are breaking the contract, not you. search for a replacement and then seek a refund...since they are breaking it, i would assume you are entitled to a full refund.

i don't think that's fair. if they just found out, they just found out.
i agree with the other posters...figure out how badly you need those 2 hours and go from there.

Most graduations are posted in the beginning of the school year. To do this two months before the wedding is a bit stressful.
They definitely SHOULD be apologetic and work in every way they can to help her, but I find it hard to believe they didnt know about this dilemma. If your business is based on weekends, and you know your kid is graduating, you should call the school and find out the date if it isn't posted ahead of time.
I just added that post because I get annoyed when brides are p!ssed at a vendor and cancel them but don't post their names on the boards. All the positive reviews are helpful, but I would love to hear the negative ones too to make informed decisions.
Just my 2cents.. though probably not worth muchjto most peepz.

I would never post the vendors name even if we were able to work it out. I'm not one to spread gossip...if people really want to know you can FM me privately and I'll be more than happy to tell you. Otherwise, it's just me being rude.

I'm a little confused. How is telling the truth gossip?
As for the previous poster's comment about saying something negative without saying who the vendor is . . . another bride just did this a few days ago - right before she left on her HM and couldn't respond to a FM. She may or may not realize that she caused a complete uproar and a sense of distress in a whole heck of a lot of brides, and it wasn't fair to the brides who are now left wondering until she comes home who the vendor was.
You may be here and able to respond to a FM, but I wanted to point out how keeping it to yourself if things DON'T get worked out might be more of a hindrance than a help to others.

Most schools will have the date set, but not always the time. The vendor may have known when the graduation was but not the time of day it would actually take place. Unfortunately, none of that helps now...

It's a very popular vendor and i don't want to do anything to make them angry or uncomfortable. But that's besides the point, i emailed the vendor and told them i was a bit concerned and they worked with me to figure something out so everything is all good again!
And with regard to the other bride you are referring to, I FM'd her to find out who and she FM'd me right back with who it was. If you want to know too, FM me and I'll tell you.

Yup, and I was threatened with a lawsuit by a vendor that CLEARLY broke her contract with me ON THE DAY OF MY WEDDING! Thankfully this vendor is no longer a LIW vendor and I know alot of brides here who had booked this vendor are no longer using this vendor.
