So my RH wont let us put an earlier time on the invitation and i am almost certain that our guest will run late if we put the actual time of the ceremony on the invitation. They suggested we say 'ceremony starts promptly at 6:30'..but even with that i'm very nervous...
any one else having this issue? any suggestions?

Re: Timing question?
Our RH started serving guests at 6:30 as they arrived as a courtesy even though our CH technically started at 7.
I would stick to the actual start time on your invites unless your RH offers some sort of grace period with open bars / accomodations...

Re: Timing question?
PS - we put 7pm on our invites and many guests arrived between 6:45 and 7....and I wouldn't say our 200 person party is known for being punctual. I think punctual or not, most guests understand that CH is just that, an hour!

Re: Timing question?
That's something I like. We have a whole hospitality lounge which is beautifully decorated and has an open bar, some passed hors d' oeuvres, champagne, and strawberries so we are putting a 1/2 hour earlier than we are starting (plus we are having the ceremony there)
I went to a wedding Friday and got there 5 minutes late and the cocktail hour was packed. I think that people generally get there on time but I see your point.

Re: Timing question?
I'm really worried about this as well...luckily we have a hospitality half hour before the ceremony, I'm putting that time on the invite as the start time!

We put 15 minutes before the ceremony actually starts as the 'official start time' just in case.

How did you word that? We have a 7pm start time? How does one word 6:45 for a formal wedding invitation?

I was worried too, but I ended up putting the actual time of the ceremony.

We did the same thing. Put the real time on the invite. I told my family if they are late I'm locking doors. Lol.

Re: Timing question?
My FMIL thinks it's okay to show up at the airport 3:45 when the flight leaves at 4. I'm DEFINITELY putting down at least 30 minutes earlier than the real start time.

Re: Timing question?
We put the real start time. I feel if people really want to be there they will leave a little earlier to make sure they are on time
Plus I can't wait to marry FH so I'm not gonna wait in the car for an extra 30 mins

Re: Timing question?
I know its frowned upon....but were putting 6 on the invites and planning to start around 6:15-6:30 mainly bc I'm always late!

Re: Timing question?
Personally I think it is RUDE to put an earlier time on an invite. I am always punctual or even early to weddings and I would be upset to show up a half an hour early and wait around for the wedding to start. If people are late it is their own loss.
