Timing... would you do it different??

I am trying to figure out what time to have the ceremony... The reception starts at 6:30 and the church is only 20 minutes away.

I was thinking starting at '3' (on the invite, 3:15 pm in real life, lol), finish by 4ish, receiving line, photos, by the time we are on our way to the hall, its 4:30-5? Then we have about two hours for photos around the grounds (including going down to the beach!) and then some cocktail hour! Is this too much time? Is this overly optimistic? I have a lot of people coming from a distance so I don't want people waiting around too long in between, I'm afraid then they won't show up at all!

So start at '3' or '3:30' or later? isn't it crazy the details we can get caught up in??

Would you have done something different for your wedding? more or less time?

thanks in advance!!

I think that timing is good, my ceremony is at 3 with the reception at 7 and they are less then 10 min away from each other. You want some time for pictures with out cutting into your CH

Just some general questions to consider 1) where are you having your ceremony? If it's in a church, you might not be able to make up your own time, they might have set times; 2) how soon can you get into your RH? I know for mine, they have an afternoon wedding so for my 6:45 cocktail hour, we can't get to the RH before 5:30. You may just want to double check with the RH 3) Did you just want to take photos at the RH, or did you want to make another stop somewhere else? If just the RH, then 2 hours is definitely more than enough time. If you want to make another stop, you'd probably need a little more time. 4) Take into account how large your family is and where you want to do family shots. We are opting to get the bulk of ours done at the church (beautiful landscapes) so that we can enjoy the Cocktail Hour - this though requires more time for the 'church' segment. Sorry this is a lot of info, hth!

I think 3pm is perfect...thats what I am doing with a 7pm ch. Is there any family or friends in that area that can have guests back to there house after the ceremony?
