I am a little annoyed at the Bridal Salon at Macy's SmithHaven: I was there today just shopping and my mom and I wandered into the bridal salon.... there were no customers there but 3 people working. As we browsed the racks, A sales person said 'can I help you?' I said 'we are just getting some ideas' The saleswoman then said 'Ohhh when is the wedding' My mom answered 'November', she cut in and said 'ohhh you better get looking!!' I said 'No of 2008' and she said in a very un-enthustastic tone 'Oh.' and walked away!!! I guess we werent worth the time or money!

im sorry but she asked if you needed help and basically you said 'no' that you were 'just getting some ideas' so maybe she wanted to let you peruse and not bother you???

I would say yes to that, but I just got the feeling, like after we said that it was next year, she was less intrested. Which I get, she doesnt make any money of people looking, but she could have been a little more courteous.

Hey Kim, I know that it's upsetting when salespeople treat you this way- my mom has had similar experiences shopping for her dress for my wedding- the way they see it as you have time and are not buying today so they don't want to waste their time- totally inappropriate, but that is what they do.
I ordered my dress from there and have had a so-so experience with them. Good luck in your search!!

i agree that may have been the reason, but even so she could have been a little more tactful. i hate when people make me feel like an idiot for looking already...like i'm not serious or something.

Obviously I don't know how she said it, but I would interpret this are the salesperson being polite and not pressuring you when you said you were just looking.

Re: Tiny Rant about Macy's SmithHaven
I had to lie to Macy's in Manhasset to get an appt. Originally when I called they were hesitating to give me an appt. so I call back a few weeks later and told them I was getting married in the spring of '08' . I felt that alot of places that I looked didn't want to help me once they new my wedding date. I'm using Burtons and she is more than happy to assist any bride with there wedding needs regardless of the date. Carol thinks the sooner the better.
