Hi, Does anyone know how much I should give a maitre d' as tip for an engagement party/dinner? There is only 17 adults and 3 kids. Thanks so much.

I think it's 20%-25% of what you paid for the party, but not sure

then again, they have to EARN their tip, so pay him whatever you feel he's worth after you see the service he provides you

I had heard about 3 dollars per person.... but I guess it all depends on how well everything goes, right?

20% is a few thousand dollars....Are you sure that's the standard? For a 15,000 reception, that's a $3,000 tip??? Sounds a bit high....and again...I'm in the wrong freakin' business.
